“Overall just fine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2014

Stayed here 2 nights in February '14. Firstly I'll say that our experience was not as personable or homey as others have raved about. I'm not saying that as a negative... I'm just saying that after reading plenty of reviews before booking, we maybe expected something different.

We booked a main floor room (cheaper) and it looked like something out of the 80's. I don't like having to pay a premium for the same room on a higher floor. No problem though - again - just not as nice as we had read on here. The bathroom is large and good hot water which we appreciated. Our room did have a large cockroach in it, but that's no ones fault. The pool is EXCELLENT. The complimentary beverages are fantastic. We had issues communicating with the bar staff though as their English is not very good. Their pizza and bun thit noung are both delicious. We liked the gardener guy, and we rented his scooter for 400VND for the day. Excellent sunset view. The breakfast is okay - but don't order the pho - it's not good. They suggested a vietnamese restaurant for us to eat at one evening, which we did and were disappointed. If you stay here though, you MUST MUST MUST eat at Sindbad down the street. Unreal food. You can book a bus to Saigon right across the street from here (take a sitting bus, NOT a sleeping bus).

Overall, our stay here was just fine. Definitely not our "home" for 2 days though - just another hotel. We had just come from Mia Resort in Nha Trang though, so we had to do our best to critique it objectively and not compare.

Room Tip: Pay the extra to get a 2nd or 3rd floor room. You will be disappointed if you don't.

Dear AlpinestaRR,

Thank you for your review. We appreciate your compliments regarding our pool and that you enjoyed your view of the sunset. I also want to assure you that without exceptions, Grace Boutique offers the same warm and friendly service to all its guests. That’s why our guests often used words such as ‘Charming, Perfect, Warm etc…’ to describe their experience at our resort.

We apologize that a cockroach entered your room. If you reference the abundant prior reviews for Grace Boutique, I am sure you would agree that this occurence is extremely rare. Our house keeping staff is extremely vigilant regarding room hygiene. We hope you understand that Vietnam is a tropical country, airborne insects represent a challenging problem that we are continually working very hard to control. As for your comment about the ground floor rooms, many guests actually prefer them because of their larger size, these rooms also offer a more direct access to the bar, beach, garden and the pool. I do understand that the room choice is a matter of personal preference. We always do our best to match a guest’s wish with what is available.

I would like to thank you again for your visit, and wish you the all the best in your travels.

Best regards,

Van, Loan and Staff

We had only planned to stay for one night but they have hit the nail on the head here. Me and my boyfriend ended up staying for four nights - and even though they had the hotel nearly fully booked they managed to find a beautiful new room for us to stay in each night! The beach was lovely and whilst it wasn't the cheapest alcohol as we had found in mui ne - perhaps quite expensive the service and sunset was worth the extra money. Would love to go back!

After a 3 night visit with my wife and 4 members of my wife's family, I agree that Van and Loan Allen are gracious hosts who both have a delightful personality and really make you feel as part of their family. That said, like others have posted, the property is very nice, but overpriced for the value received. The rooms would be fairly priced at about $20 USD less. Overcharging extends to almost everything else. As examples, at the Beach Bar, Saigon Export (red label) beer is almost $2 USD a bottle where at the restaurant next door it is $.60 USD a bottle and we normally pay $7 USD for a case of 20 bottles. Jim Beam bourbon is almost $45 USD a bottle and can be bought for $10 a bottle in Saigon. $1 USD would be a fair "resort" price for a bottle of beer.
If you are assume from the resort's web site that flat screen TV means a widescreen (16:9) format you will instead find the older format 4:3 "flat screen" CRT TVs. While our 3 rooms had king size beds, the top sheet was for a double bed and too short to tuck at the foot of the bed, so by morning the sheet was well off your feet. This is a nonstarter for an upscale resort.
As others have said, the rooms were very clean except for dust on the bathroom wall light fixtures and the top of the mirror; the sink and shower water is hot and the flow is good, the infinity pool is large and fantastic; and the limited breakfast menu is more than adequate.

Room Tip: Due to Van Allen's design, almost all of the rooms have a pool and ocean view. Corner rooms clo...

Dear David & Kim,

Thank you for your visit and review. I especially appreciated our opportunity to relive Vietnam during the 60’s. It brought back to me fond memories of my father, who like you, was a young American service man during this time. I thank you and Ms. Kim for your kind sharing of those priceless memories.

David, Grace Boutique is designed and targeted for a special and specific segment of travelers. Within that segment, we make it our priority to deliver the best service and value to our guests. Our pricing, while not among the low-ends, are designed to be in line and competitive with other similar resorts. Due to the expensive investments in building and infrastructures, it is not possible economically for us to price our bar drinks similar to a small local restaurant with a tin roof, plastic tables and chairs.

After 4 years of operation and over 300 ‘Excellent’ customers’s ratings, we feel that we have achieved our customers’ value satisfaction goal. This year, our guests have once again recognized Grace Boutique as one of the top ‘Bargain’ choices in Vietnam. This recognition was formalized by the 2014 Travelers’ Choice Winner Award for Grace Boutique Resort by TripAdvisor.

It was a pleasure to meet you. We would like to thank you once again for your visit. We wish you the very best in your continuing travels.

Sincerely yours,

Van, Loan and Staff

This is certainly a nice place, but not worth the superlatives seen in other reviews. We stayed her for five nights and another five nights at the Cliff resort, some distance down the street. The Cliff was about USD 20/night cheaper and we felt it offers better value.

The location is excellent. There's relatively good restaurants and bars close by. You get a nice view of the see and lots of palm trees from your balcony (balcony was very nice).

The rooms are clean but smallish and not very new. There was a very small old crt tv in the room. I'm 1.90M and my feet stuck out of the bottom of the bed somewhat when lying straight. Lighting at night looks charming.

There's a good pool and small artificial beach with loungers in in the garden. The property is kept very clean. Unfortunately the neighboring resort and eating place are not as clean and we spotted rats there from our balcony. There was a garbage smell from next door at the pool one day.

There's some nice touches like a complimentary drink every day and fresh fruit in your room. Breakfast was disappointing. There is a choice of eggs, noodles, pancakes or cornflakes (not a buffet). All come with fruit and yoghurt. At the price asked I'd really expect a buffet and more choice.

There's about 15 rooms in the hotel, all facing the garden. This'd be ideal for family with children; you can easily keep an eye on them from pretty much the entire place. You'll probably recognize each of the rooms' inhabitants and the small staff within a day. This gives the place a kind of village feel.

Owners are nice and speak near native English. They have a funny little dog who begs for food at breakfast (I liked this, very homey).

All in all, we had a good time. But compared to the Cliff it was more expensive while offering less value.

If you like a small cozy place where you can have a chat with the owner, this is for you. If you prefer a large staff, modern rooms, unlimited beach towels, many facilities (spa, fitness, etc), a big beach and large choice of breakfast for less money, I'd recommend the Cliff instead.

Dear BennyLD,

Thank you for your visit and review. We appreciate and understand your preference for a large complex experience over Grace’s boutique style. It is important for potential guests to realize that as a boutique resort, an experience at Grace can be quite different than at a large resort such as the one you mentioned. Boutique places such as ours by their very nature, tend to be fairly small. We are purposely kept small so that our staff can offer a personalized service to all guests. Visitors to our resort have often singled out their enjoyments of Grace’s quiet, relaxing and mostly our intimate atmosphere.

It is our top priority to deliver the best value to our customers. This year, our guests have once again recognized Grace Boutique as one of the top ‘Bargain’ choices in Vietnam. This recognition was formalized with the Travelers’ Choice Winner Award for 2014 by TripAdvisor.

In closing, we would like to thank you once again for your visit. We wish you and yours the very best in your continuing travels.

Sincerely yours,

Van, Loan and Staff

This was my third visit to this location but the first time staying at the Grace Boutique Resort and I had a wonderful vacation when I stayed there over Christmas.

The hotel is excellent - beautiful pool and sea views, my room was immaculate and maintained to a high standard too. The hosts - Van & Loan - were very friendly and always at hand to chat and provide advice, attention and a first class service experience. They really care about making sure that their customers have a perfect holiday/stay.

The setting is idyllic, peaceful and very relaxing and I can only provide positive comments on every aspect of this resort. I am already planning my next vacation here - I just hope that there is availability!!

A fantastic discovery!

I normally stay at coco beach resort when visiting but they were sold out and I found Grace Resort on trip advisor. I was very fortunate I did because the place was great. The place was clean and very peaceful. The owner lives on the resort with his family so he treats it like his home also they lived in the United States so their english is great. I stayed in December 2013 and the temperatures were in the 75-80 degree f. Restaurants are within walking distance. In the morning they offer a complimentary breakfast that is very good. I would highly recommend the Grace Boutique Resort and I will definitely stay their again.

I stayed at Grace Boutique Resort for a week in January - the service and facilities are out-of-this-world amazing. When you walk into your room, you'll literally breathe a sigh of relief because it's so beautiful. A genuine little paradise in Mui Ne.

I unfortunately was sick for a couple of days with a tooth infection, and the staff were so incredibly caring and thoughtful, they even served me dinner in bed! Do yourself a favour and book it!

Room Tip: All of them are amazing. Incredible ocean views, all angled so you have privacy from other guests.
