“Very nice resort and relaxing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2012

We stayed at this resort for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the relaxation. Our room in the hotel section was spacious, clean and a very nice bathroom. The amenities in the room were very good including a very ample supply of toiletries in the bathroom.

The breakfast in the restaurant was excellent with some great choices. We found the staff in the restaurant very friendly with lots of smiles for us.

The pool and beach were excellent although at the pool some guests tended to "hog" the sun chairs.

In the 3 days we were at the resort we only heard one other guest who spoke English and when my wife went to the library to exchange her book there was not one book in English.

Meals and drinks at the resort were rather expensive but there are lots of restaurants close by to choose from. We had many of our meals at Do Ha restaurant across from the resort where the food and drinks very tasty and inexpensive and very friendly staff.

Only other suggestion is that if you are going from HCMC consider going first class on the train rather than the bus as the bus trip is horrendous and quite scary.

We had a room for 2 nights at Mia Resort down the street (highly recommended!), and they were fully booked our 3rd night so we had to go to Terracotta. We had to pay almost double the price of Mia for a boring room with an awfully hard bed. Almost all the guests are russian, the staff speaks russian. They don't speak as much English, they would ask me questions in russian haha. When we first arrived, they asked us to sit for a moment. We sat for an hour waiting before finally asking when we could check in - they said not until 2 pm! It was hilarious! Lacking in a little common sense.
The restaurant is really awful and well overpriced. The breakfast is all right. I might be reviewing them more highly if I hadn't been to Mia first, they really set a standard. If you are an English speaker, look into Mia or one of the cheaper resorts first.

Moved from another resort to this one. Love the ambience and style. Rooms clean and modern and breakfast is delicious. Reasonably priced and in a top location. Love the sitting area beside the beach. Very nice grounds and staff service is excellent.

Room Tip: Try a room near the beach

After visiting the wonders of Angkor, my wife, daughter and I spent 5 wonderful days in this excellent hotel on the Mui Ne beach. Walking the whole beach every day, we concluded that Terracotta is best hotel in Mui Ne; other hotels look rather run down and/or are not well located.

The service is not perfect but very friendly. We stayed in a garden view bungalow which was very nice and big enough for us three. The breakfast is excellent, but the dinner is not worth the experience.

The only irritation was the "free" massage" offer we received when checking in, which turned out to be just a discount.

There is a noisy bar playing loud Russian music on the other side of street which must be annoying if you stay in the hotel rooms, but we were not disturbed in the bungalows.

Room Tip: Pay extra to stay in the bungalows. The hotel rooms are close to the street and a noisy bar.

We stayed at Terracotta Resort for 3 nights as a relaxing break after our hectic schedule in Saigon and Mekong Delta, it was a fantastic oasis of peace and tranquility, so much so that we hardly left the resort during our stay there. We had a garden bungalow that was very spacious with its own outside area to relax and enjoy. The gardens and pool area were superbly well maintained, immaculately clean and well laid out with lots of nice features. All the staff were friendly and helpfull, especially around the pool area. Just one thing that we weren't aware of before arriving in Mui Ne is that well over 90 percent of visitors are Russians, not a problem for us but we did feel a little bit of being the odd one out. Overall I don't think we could fault Terracotta resort, just wish we could have stayed longer.

Room Tip: Garden bungalows are great value over sea or pool view bungalows.

Terracotta Resort is located in beach area known as Mui Ne; ~ a 20 minute coastal drive from the city of Phan Thiet. We stayed there for 4 nights, concluding our travels of Cambodia and Vietnam. After seeing the wonders of Siem Reap, the sadness in Phnom Penh and the congestion in HCMC...this was a great place to relax! The resort is situated in the middle of the beach area where there restaraunts, businesses and tour groups within a mile walk in each direction. We stayed in a Deluxe Garden Bunglaow and it was fantastic! Our 'room' was only a few steps from the pool, and very roomy. The grounds of the resort could pass for botanical gardens, you won't beleive the view from the bathroom shower, (each bungalow has a mini garden outside through a double glass door). The rooms, grounds, and pool were extremely clean. The pool has a bar area that serves pretty good food and drinks (much cheaper outside resort though). There are lots of lounge chairs around the pool and a dozen on each side that overlook the beach. The beach itself is one of the best i've seen anywhere in the world. It was clean and wide, with white/soft sand that doesn't get too hot to walk on. The resort has the best expanse of beach that we saw during our walks. I'm not sure how to tell you to save your chair. In other places, people are courtous and do not 'steal' your chairs. I only saved chairs by beach on our last morning (they're all gone by 0700), and placed towels and a book on each chair. After 45 minutes, another couple (European who didn't speak English) took were using my chairs and the books were placed behind them. After waving me off, I just gave up. You don't need to worry about driving, but we did rent motorcycles one day and went to Phan Thiet. You can ask any of the tour places along the strip (~ 1/3 we stopped at spoke English) and rent a bike for 8 USD a day. They didn't want to see a license or ask if you could drive a motor bike, but it was okay for us. We only ate breakfast at the resort because there are so many great options for food just a few steps away. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only issue we encountered was that they did not know our 8 year old was also staying. The front desk said that there would be a 29 USD charge for an extra bed and breakfast...so they stick to the rules. All in all, a very nice stay! Just a note here; we rode the bus from HCMC to the resort which was a "reclining" bus. This was a first for us and cost 8USD/person and took ~ 5 hours. I'd reccommend the 'top' seats of the bus (the very back looked the best) so that you can see out the windows.
Happy and safe travels!

Room Tip: Garden bungalow was great and close to pool!

My husband and I recently spent 5 nights at Terracotta resort Mui Ne at the end of a Vietnam and Cambodia trip. Our first night in Mui Ne was spent at a resort that let's just stay was close to the hotel from hell but after speaking with our wonderful travel agent he arranged for us to move to Terracotta for our remaining five night stay.
My husband and I have done a lot of traveling since 2007 including Europe and can honestly say that this resort is top class for a number of reasons. The staff are fantastic and most of them speak a reasonable amount of English a must in my book, their attention to detail is first class and nothing is a bother to them any problems you encounter with your room are attended too quickly. The location is great close to everything that you need. The amenities are wonderful beautiful pool easy beach access would not hesitate to recommend this resort to my family and friends.

Room Tip: Garden bungalow is my choice
