“A green oasis and great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

Choosing a place to stay is difficult at the best of times, especially in a far away place! However Trip Advisor does help and we choose this location for our 6 night stay in Mui Ne on the back of previous reviews. To be honest we were not disappointed but do feel we could have done better!

The location is excellent. The property is on a fairly narrow plot that runs all the way from the road to the beach. It is also well located at the better end of the beach and great for bars and restaurants etc. So a great location.

The rooms on the other hand were a bit of a weak point. Of good sizes and clean with air-con, safe, TV, fridge and a reasonable amount of storage (but lacking in shelves and drawers) and free WiFi (throughout the property). However the beds were really, REALLY firm (waking up with bad backs) and the bathroom a little basic. Some days we had no water pressure at all and the hot water was non existent. We did mention this to the staff and they quickly sorted this. However it seemed we were sharing the hot water with the neighbouring bungalow and so either got in the shower before them or had to wait!

The pool area is a bit on the small side but clean and the water a great temperature.
The breakfast, which was included in our room rate, was excellent, loads of choice but finished at 9am. The restaurant served food and drinks all day and offered a good choice at very reasonable prices. However the standard was not amazing but better than most.
The staff were lovely and super helpful. The odd language difficulty (to be expected I suppose). But we were made to feel really welcome and we given a lovely thank you cocktail one evening which was a nice touch.

The real plus for this place are the gardens. They have created such a peaceful green and colourful oasis. Beautifully tended and kept immaculate. Birdsong and the gurgling of the stream that runs through the whole garden, really make you feel you have escaped the often chaotic scenes on the road or the fairly constant wind on the beach.

Be warned - Mui Ne is a Mecca for kite surfers, so if you are into this you will love it. From November through to April the winds are constant and strong, whipping up the surf and blowing the sand. So no sunbathing on the beach! But great sport watching the crazy flyers in action and the waves make for a fun time in the surf. Another thing - the Russians love this place and make up the largest (by far) group - enough said!

There are great restaurants to be found in the area and some decent shops. But there is not a great deal to do here other than kite surf. You can hire cycles or mopeds to explore, which is fun if you don't mind a few hair-raising moments with the traffic.

Would we go back? Yes.
Would we stay at the same place? To be honest no. Nothing they did wrong but there are more comfortable places for about the same price. However we have wonderful memories of our time in Mui Ne and it is well worth a visit.

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms near the road. The Ocean view villa has a nice view and a terrace with sun beds - no...

Lots of enthusiastic reviews on TripAdvisor drew us to this resort. It's not bad value for the money - but if you're looking for a little luxury, then you might try a 4-start place rather than this 3-star property. The gardens are superb - whoever tends them seems to have a real passion for gardening, and I give them full marks for creating a lush and very pretty environment. The food, which other reviewers have raved about, was good - but certainly not the best on offer in Mui Ne. The staff were polite and friendly, but not excessively so. Their standard of English was generally not good, which makes it more difficult to be friendly I suppose. But it's the rooms that really let this place down. Our shower sometimes ran at a trickle, and often the water wasn't that hot. The rooms weren't very big, and the beds a little hard. There was, strangely, no drawers or shelving for clothes, so we had to pile them up on other furniture. And generally, the level of taste - both in the accommodation and throughout the resort - was more home-spun amateur than slick luxury resort. Ironically, the best resort in Mui Ne (but not the most expensive) is right next door to the Bao Quynh. If you can get a room at the Mia Sailing Club - then you're in for a treat. Beautifully designed, lovely food, great staff and really nice accommodation. It's also a lot wider than the thin slice of property that is the Bao Quynh - so feels more spacious. The guests are also nicer - whereas the Bao Quynh has rather a lot of non-communicative Russians with noisy children. Lastly, I booked in for a massage at the Bao Quynh's 'spa' - and the woman who gave it was very odd indeed. Very rough, not very friendly, and quite annoyed with me when I asked her to stop doing something that actually hurt. A very odd experience.

Room Tip: If you do stay here, get the one beach-front property. But you're better off at the Sailing Club...

The Hotel is situated just on the beach. The rooms are really small but there are all necessary inside. The staff is really friendly and helpfull although they don't speak very well english. Also the parking for scooters is very well secured. Our favourite part of the hotel was the restaurant. The service is nice, food delicious and the prices are correct. We came there for lunch even after when we moved to another hotel. Well, we liked our stay in this hotel.

We stayed in a garden view bungalow for 5 nights. The rooms are well kept, very clean and have everything you need. Bathrooms are outside but very well screened (they are a great place for drying washing as there's a nice breeze through the screens). The food at the hotel is excellent and the night time restaurant has a really nice atmosphere. The girls working at the bungalows are very friendly and helpfull.

Beach is less than a minute walk from the reception area and is great for swimming. The best swimming is in the morning before the sea breeze and the swell picks up. After noon there are quite a few kitesurfers around- the experienced ones are fine, but it's the learners you need to watch out for! The pool is nice for relaxing around also.

We could of stayed for another week quite happily as the place is so relaxed; the days roll into one long siesta interspersed with swimming.

We stayed in a Sea and Garden bungalow for 8 nights in December and had a relaxing stay in homely well equipped and well loved bungalows which were kep immaculately clean. Beds probably a little harder than I would like but new. The bungalows are cleverly arranged in a small plot which leads directly down to the soft sandy beach which is nestled between the Mia and Terracotta hotels. The highlight of the room for us was the immaculate outside shower. There is nothing better than showering under the warm starry sky listening to the sound of the sea. Absolute heaven and remarkably free of bugs! The gardens are beautfully maintained with so many flowers and bonsai trees. There are approx 24 sunbeds at the beach and more by the pool. We never had any problem with getting a bed. Be warned that it is windy and we did get sandblasted a couple of times so retreated to the sanctuary and cool of our verandah. Lastly and most importantly, it is the warm friendly and caring staff that made this a holiday we will never forget. Just the little touches such as an invitation to a thank you cocktail in the gardens shows the care and pride they take over every detail. We hope to come back again to this oasis in the middle of Mui Ne.

First impression: calm, relaxing atmosphere, singing of birds and smell and rustle of plants. We were here for 5 days and we have decided that next year we'll be back with whole family. We rested here and totally relaxed. Food was fantastic especially thai soup, breakfast was delicious, a great variety of dishes. We had a standard bungalow well-equipped. Lovely service. Very clean, well maintained property.
