As a rule, my wife and I tend to prefer downtown restaurants for their quality and value.
L'Anne is a rare suburban exception. In our opinion, one of the finest restaurants in the metro area. The cuisine is French-Asian. We especially enjoyed the quail appetizer($8), Stilton Blue Cheese pastry ($8), toasted goat cheese salad ($7), butternut squash soup ($6) pork chop entree ($16) rack of lamb ($27) and the sweet trio for dessert ($10).
The portion sizes may be a little smaller, but the quality of the food/flavor overcompensates for it. The service is a little laid back, but the sweetness of Lanni, the owner, is a delight. Prices are very fair.
We drive 30 miles each way to Wheaton, but fiind it is well worth the trip.
Note: there is free parking in the new municipal garage behind the restaurant - now that is something one will not find downtown!
