We always check tripadvisor before booking a hotel - and this time...the reviews let us down. As we pulled up to the hotel, my husband asked me if we could go ahead and cancel.....which after looking at the paperwork.....we found out it was too late. First sign a hotel is going to be rundown...a HUGE sign on the side of the building that says they rent by the week. uh oh.
The exterior is in need of some fresh paint, a lawn mower on the grassy area (very tall weeds and grass) and some exterior updating. But we continued inside....
The reception area was okay, pretty basic (to be expected at a Super 8) and clean looking.....but then we went up to our room....on the 3rd floor.
VERY obvious that people were smoking on this floor, despite it being non-smoking. We opened the door to our room and was greeted by a very musty, old stale smoke smell. Ewh. Looking around at the decor, it looks like they got it at a bad yard sale. Old, worn....etc. The bed felt like someone weighing 1000 pounds had laid in the middle of it for several months, as the bed was bouncy enough to jump off of and begin flying.....and the middle sank in horribly. It just reminded me of a very old, used bed.
The bathroom - scarier. Ewh. I made the mistake of taking my shoes off....and the floor felt like it was mopped in hairspray. I stuck to it. Upon close inspection, I really don't think they have mopped in several days if not weeks, it was pretty disturbing. Plus, all the (what was supposed to be clear/white) caulking was now a funky brown color....
The floor - we decided it best not to take our shoes off. Very dingy....dated...and dirty.
Overall, probably one of the poorest quality hotels I have ever stayed in. I wanted to make sure and warn others of this hotel....I understand Super 8 is a "cheap" hotel but cheap and just plain dirty are two different things to me.
