We rented bikes in Victoria at Selkirk Station (excellent and right on the trail) and on their advice, rode the Lochside trail (connects to the Galloping Goose) toward Sidney. The ride was easy as the trail first winds through town, then over boardwalk bridges spanning some streams and swampy areas, then farm fields, then some upscale neighborhoods with views of the water, Much of the path was well shaded. There were places to stop for food and rest rooms. We stopped to watch model airplanes being flown at a dedicated field just past the Sayward Road intersection. Has a great experience.
