A nice, comfortable small hotel on the main street in Sycamore. The building is old, but the owners have done a very good, tasteful, thorough job of redecorating and refurbishing, and have created a warm, country-charming property. The rooms are large, the linens were new, the plumbing fixtures up-to-date, the entire place is clean, the service was quite satisfactory and the hotel seems well-run. There is a small but comfortable bar and a restaurant that serves lunch and dinner. A continental breakfast is included, except on Sunday when they offer a breakfast buffet. We can't speak to the buffet, as we opted for coffee and a sweet roll at the neat and very popular little bakery across the street. Downtown Sycamore doesn't have much to offer, although there is a theater, a very nice tavern, an Italian restaurant and a Mexican restaurant. We would definitely stay at the Stratford again, particularly after reading the TripAdvisor comments about some of the other places in Sycamore and DeKalb.
