I checked on many hotels in the area and this one is priced well for its location. The room was clean and very large with a love seat and nice view along with nice features like an ironing board and hair dryer. I will agree with others that it is in need of updating, but you can go ahead and pay 50% to 100% more and get a brand new room. The staff was great and very professional. Don's had a wonderful breakfast buffet - best I've had. The restaurant also had some wonderful food.

I stayed here for one night with my 6-year-old son.

What I liked: The rooms were well cleaned, the staff was friendly, the mattresses and bedding were comfortable, the rooms provided ample space, parking was free and plentiful, the pool looked nice (although we didn't get a chance to use it), The breakfast was great (we were able to fill up, even with special dietary needs, and what we didn't eat smelled and looked great), There's great shopping right down the street, A large grocery store and bagel shop in walking distance. It's very convenient to the Skokie subway connector, and therefore it was easy to get downtown.

Why I didn't give it an "excellent": When I arrived at 5:00am there was a little, tied up garbage bag in the hall in front of the room next door. When I checked out it was still there - yuck!. The bed frames are old, and wobbly. They gave me a very outdate advertisement laiden map of downtown. My son and I wasted a good deal of time looking for an attraction on that map, only to find out from the barista at a Starbucks that it had closed 2-3 years prior.

All in all it was a positive experience, and I would stay there again.

Stayed for 4 nites, overall a good experience. Pretty pricey hotel ($100/nite) for rooms that are in need of updating. Small TV. Old frig. Torn $2 shower curtain. Bathroom smelled of mold. But they responded to our requests immediately (frig, cot, extra pillows and sheets) and the hot buffet breakfast at Don's Tavern is delicious!!

Excellent location if you are visiting Chicago North Shore. Loved the large grocery store across the street. Many excellent restaurants nearby and Don's is superb. Large indorr pool with lap lanes and nice outside deck for lounging.

Overall, I recommend this if you're needing to be in the Skokie area, it's the best priced hotel around. The buffet was enough to override our minor complaints about the old rooms.

Front desk staff is either rude/mumbly or extremely courteous and friendly.

So that's how our stay was a mix of good and bad.

We stayed at this hotel as part of a wedding party. The rooms are quite large and had plenty of room for our "stuff." The free hot breakfast was a nice touch. Our kids enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub. The hotel is conveniently located with regard to the metro transportation system if you're planning to go into Chicago.

We had a pleasant stay. Our rooms were clean and comfortable. When we needed a delayed checkout on the final day of our stay, the hotel staff didn't hesitate to accommodate us.

My fiancee and I spent Easter weekend at the Skokie Comfort Inn. We did little more than sleep there, as we were in town to visit her sister who is a student at Northwestern. It was in a great location for us as it was only about 5-10 minutes from campus and then about a 30 minute drive to downtown where we went shopping and enjoyed some of the fine cuisine in Little Mexico and China Town.

Overall, the room and hotel were nothing special, but then again we didn't have any problems with it either. Everything was clean and it was pretty much what we were looking for... someplace to crash at the end of the day. We never made it out of bed in time to try the complimentary hot breakfast, so I can't really comment on that. It was very quiet and within walking distance of the Old Orchard shopping center.
