“3 star hotel feels like 2 star hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2012

We arrived at the hotel after 3 pm, normal check in time, and were told that the computers were down and so they couldn't check us in. We explained that we were rushing to a 4 pm wedding.... could we show them our printed receipt from priceline.com? They explained that wouldn't work because they wouldn't know which room to assign us and were afraid they would then assign it to someone else. Really? We waited in the lobby for at least 30 minutes until the computers were working. The room they gave us was on the first floor facing a large indoor courtyard and the pool. That clearly was not a very desireable room and what made the room even less desireable was the fact that the wall facing the courtyard was glass and no matter how well we tried to close the curtains, you could still see into the room from a certain angle. And the room was in a high traffic area, so that was quite disturbing. The room itself was tiny and the bathroom was old and tired. The refrigerator smelled so we couldn't put anything in it. I would have thought for the inconvenience they would have given us a nicer room; but we were rushing so much to get to the wedding that we didn't have the time to complain. We were late to the wedding and arrived just as the bride and groom were walking down the aisle. I do not recommend this hotel at all.

Room Tip: There are plenty of rooms that don't have a glass wall facing the courtyard. Definitely ask for...

Had a great visit here and I happen to get a good deal on a room rate since I bought a block of rooms on Priceline for a great rate. The regular price is way too high for this facility but overall very very nice p;lace for an old remodeled Holiday inn.

Room Tip: Great location there is a resturant and bar on site and plenty other places close by.

The building was quite lovely, with a bar/grill inside as well as a convention space. The bar/grill had a sports bar feel. Room was nice: all standard fare. Breakfast was decent and included with my room. They had extra benefits for Priority Club members. It was the cheapest in the greater Chicago area, although a bit far from the city for tourism.

Hotel is very clean and great service. I was there for business and could not have stayed in a better place. The food at the hotel is great. From the breakfast to dinner. Every time I in town for business I choose Holiday Inn Skokie. Tower suits are awesome with a great view.

The hotel was very nice, clean, good products, upgraded. The staff was nice, the room lovely.
Priceline mislead me on the phone about the free breakfast, and I spent hours with 3 different people who refused to change it.
I chatted online to make sure the breakfast was included and when I got the reservation, I found it was not.
Pretty disturbed about their not making amends for their own mistake.
Finally, however, the hotel manager (reluctantly) did provide the free breakfast certificate for the 3 days. My only complaint there was the their computers were down, so I couldn't order off the menu and had to have the breakfast buffet. All told, it was fine.

Booked two nights here through Priceline.com. Huge mistake! Shame on Priceline for advertising this as a 3-plus star hotel and sending us there. The staff was nice, but the hotel itself is a rundown old courtyard-style Holiday Inn with a pool in the center. The lobby and event spaces appear to have been redone, but everything else is really bad. From the moment you step into the halls to get to your room, you are overcome by heat and chlorine. More heat hits you as you walk by the a/c units next to the room doors. There was a huge fan down by the entrance from the bar into the courtyard. We switched from our first room, because of the pool noise and the loud struggling a/c unit. Our second room down the hall had sheets with holes in it. Every time our neighbor open and shut their door at night, our door and front window shook. We cold only find one plug, other than the bathroom that worked. Tried to use coffee maker in bathroom and had to reset GFCI on plug 2xs. The rooms were clean, but the missing grout and the tub which backed up while taking a shower was gross. We did not stay the 2nd night, and we could not get our money back because we booked through Priceline. Feel ripped off. Won't ever do that again. And it wasn;t even that cheap!

Dear amyhue,

Thank you so much for your review of our hotel. I am pleased to know that our staff was nice to you during your stay. On the other hand, I am sorry we were not able to exceed or at least be at par with your expectations. While we understand that your stay was not 100% satisfactory, we would hope that you would give us another chance to make your stay as best as it can be. If there is anything we can do to make your next stay more comfortable, please do not hesitate to ask the Manager on Duty.

I have stayed four nights in this hotel which I, contrary to the many negative reviews, did not book through Priceline or Hotwire, but directly on the Holiday Inn website with the AAA discount and as a Priority Club member.
We got a room at the front side, very kind and friendly staff. The room was nice, a double queen. We even got some fruit and other stuff, due to being a priority member. The room was clean and allthough it was not a new room, it was decent and everything was working.
The only negative thing was that we were in the vicinity of the washroom so we kept hearing some repeating buzzing sound, but we were not bothered it. The service was also good, since we were missing a towel (there were four of us) and after I called the frontdesk, withtin 5 minutes a set of towels was brought.
Also the neighbourhood is great since it has all kinds of shops and fastfoodrestaurants at hand. And the area, as well as the hotel are very lively, the bar is is open till late and also popular in the weekend.
As for the negative comments I have two things to say:
1. One can not expect to pay 60 dollars through a Hotwire/Priceline and get the same deal like a full paying customer. That would be stupid. Hotwire/Pricline rooms are not a lottery where you get the same deal like a full paying customer for half the price, it's a profit-minded bussiness, so somehwere there has to be some profit.
2. The complaints about worn out rooms - it's a hotel for crying out loud. Only the first customer get's to sleep in the new room... after that it's not going to be new anymore.

I say, next time try paying full price and book through company website and make the comparison.
