“Comfortable, Clean and convenient”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2012

Stayed one night during a business trip and found this hotel to be above average. Excellent front desk staff-very professional and kind.
Comfortable and clean rooms. Very roomy!
Shower was average.
Overall-would definitely recommend!

I have stayed here twice when traveling to Schaumburg to shop at Ikea. The location is very convenient to several shopping spots in Schaumburg, and is across the parking lot from Ikea. The rooms are all tasteful and have a contemporary feel. I have not encountered any concerns with cleanliness. The rooms do seem quite clean. Rooms are not particularly large, but king rooms do accommodate a couple nicely and even include defined sleeping and living areas. Bathroom is quite small, but functional with the sink and vanity outside the toilet/bath room. The staff seems friendly and helpful. Rooms do include a free breakfast, but I did not feel that the offerings are very diverse or appealing and I skipped it completely on my second visit.

The rooms are an exceptional value for the price, which has only one drawback for a couple on a weekend trip - it seems to be a hot spot for families with school age kids. Not sure if it's the value price or the location, but I did find this slightly disruptive both times. Lots of kids running around - and kids aren't particularly quiet. If this concerns you, I would recommend asking for a room far from the pool, lobby or the elevator. Away from those areas, you should not be bothered too much by noise.

Overall, it's an excellent value, comfortable stay and I have returned once already and would stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from elevators, pool and lobby.

In a nutshell: Room not maintained, outdated. Non-smoking room, however there are carpet burns and burns (holes) in the bed spread that indicate perhaps this was previously a smoking room, yet these items have not been taken care of. The hotel used to have a self-service kiosk for check-in but these have been removed. Room air conditioner/heater loud when in use. No accessible electrical outlets near either side of the bed. Room location request was not honored. Telephone next to bed did not operate at all, however there was another phone in the room that did work correctly. Found a long dark hair in the bed linens. Very close to a lot of nice restaurants and a large super-regional mall/shopping center.

When I booked this hotel, I had no idea of the notion of Hyatt Place vs. Hyatt Regency. There is a Hyatt Regency in the same parking lot with this hotel and I was unaware that they are two different hotels.

My number one displeasure with this hotel was that although they advertise free wifi, the signal is very weak. If I moved away from the desk in the room I lost the connection. One of the reasons I chose the hotel was because I figured I could save mondy if I didn't have to pay additional for wifi.

The first room they put me in smelled like the previous renter had been smoking in there so I requested another room and was obliged with great customer service and no issues. The new room had a different smell around the bed area. It had a kind of stale of mildew smell just in that area. Everything appeared to be very clean and neat.

In the morning, I am not sure if it was coming from some kind of renovation that was happening or if I just had a noisy neighbor, but there was noise that definitely put my sleeping in plans to a halt. I was in a room on the 5th floor right off of the elevators.

There are ample shops around this area so the hotel's location is excellent and right near the expressway.

If you want great value and don't plan on using the internet much, then staying here will definitely suit you.

We stopped here because we hit some lousy weather and decided to check in here instead. We got a
Great last min rate. Overall a totally acceptable and relaxing place to stay. The rooms where suite like. A very nice sitting area, a wet bar and work-space. The bed was comfortable, clean and well made. Our room was however FREEZING when we arrived. It warmed up a little but we ended up having to switch rooms in the middle of the night. The staff was super helpful though. They heated the new room
For us before we moved and were very gracious and helpful. They even gave us some comps for the "Starbucks" (not a Starbucks, Well it has the brandname but the barista is a machine-eww) the breakfast was free. Decent variety bu sort or lacking in the fruit and health section but free is free :) they even had high-chairs. The lobby was a hot mess of wet/winter/salt. This was disappointing as our cases got wet. Like I said, probably a lot better in the summer.

Loved the layout. Like a small apartment. All we were missing was a microwave. Great to have a comfortable place to sit & watch TV other than the bed. We were close to Ikea, Woodbridge, & all the other Shaumburg shopping.
