“4 Stars For Location, 2.5 Stars For Everything Else!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012

If you want to be within a 5 mile radius of companies, restaurants/eateries and a huge shopping mall, then this is the location to drop your luggage. Don't expect too much though, because it is an older hotel that has been renovated. Although some parts were given great attention to, others weren't. The lobby is modern, but not impressive. The hallways to the rooms were very nice with a fresh, clean smell. Perhaps they just shampooed the carpet that day. There is a cafe, fitness center, wi-fi and internet access, etc....typical of any 21st century hotel nowadays.

The reception staff was cordial and professional. The maids were very noisy and disrespectful when cleaning rooms in the morning. If you have a Do Not Disturb sign on your door and need to sleep in, forget it! You will hear plenty of loud banging, slamming and thumps. The walls are fairly thin to where you can hear other guests in their bathrooms. Warning: The doors to the rooms are swingers...meaning if you let go of it, it will violently slam shut! You will get startled much during your stay from guests as well as the maids due to these doors.

The rooms were not particularly as clean as it should be.... There were white stains on the carpet, dust on some of the furniture and fixtures. The bathroom tub area was somewhat outdated. The hot water lever was difficult to adjust and at some point hard to turn off. Be careful!! The one thing that stood out was how comfortable the bed was......best part of the stay!

The breakfast buffet was OK, not a lot to choose from and if it's a busy time, you won't be receiving any type of service. The only time they will stop at your table, is to hand you the check. You can have something cooked to order. Honestly, they need to staff it better according to the flow of traffic during a particular time. On this day, during a weekday, early in the morning, which was semi-crowded, it seemed they only had 2 workers.

Doubletree Hiltons are renown for their delicious cookies!! There isn't one establishment that won't offer them to you once you check in. It's become a given amongst their regular guests and members. Unfortunately, this hotel doesn't extend that hospitality. For Hilton Honors, what a shock to the system! :-)

Dear Tina G,
Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review about the Doubletree in Schaumburg. I'm so sorry you did not receive a Doubletree cookie when you arrived. This is part of our check-in process and will be discussed with the staff as some guests choose Doubletree over other properties for the cookies. Please feel free to stop by any time for a few cookies if you live near by.

My first experience at this hotel was one I will not forget. Mac, Sam, Edward, Roxy and the entire staff were the most gracious hosts and accommodating of any hotel I've stayed, and I've stayed at a few world wide. I can't complain about anything here. Appears the renovation of the lobby and bar area made all the difference. I swam in the indoor heated pool which was spectacular! Stayed here four nights on a recent biz trip to Zurich NA and can recommend to anyone visiting the "Towers" this is the place to stay within one block walking distance, or free shuttle to anywhere locally. One of the best in the Hilton brands, and all time best Doubletree. Excellent breakfast & top shelf bar. Oh yea, the cookies are warm & wonderful if that's what makes you feel good.

Room Tip: Not one is better than the other but if you don't want early morning sun stay on the upper west...

Was a little skeptical about staying here after hearing all the negative reviews about this hotel being under rennovation, but we were pleasantly surprised upon our arrival. The lobby and bar have been modernized with all new sleek furnishings. Our room was nice also and the service staff did an excellent job. Doubletree is back!!! We would stay here again. My only complaint is breakfast which is non-complimentary. Otherwise it was a great stay.

I am pleased to have the management team respond to my needs while staying at this hotel. Not only did they respond with kindness, but they also were very sensitive to my needs. They took care of my requests with great pleasure.
It was a pleasant place to stay with a great breakfast offering each morning. In addition to the hotel accommodations the nightly rates were at a great price. I would highly reccommend this hotel to anyone and also highly reccomend this location for its proximity to malls, restaurants, and other major chain stores in this area.
I am looking forward to staying here again!

We chose this hotel because we know the area and the rate for our room was very reasonable. Upon check-in, we found out why....the hotel is undergoing a major, first floor renovation. Check in was fine, but no cookies (has Doubletree gone away from that--or was it just this location?). Our room was fine, typical in most respects, but it did not have a fridge--which, while not promised, now seems to be standard in even the most inexpensive hotels. We left our hotel room at 9:30 the next morning and when we returned almost 5 hours later, our room had not been cleaned. And there were no maids' cart anywhere on the floor. We called to request our room be attended to, and a maid came within 15 minutes. We went downstairs to wait, but there was no place to sit! The "restaurant"--a banquet room with tables and chairs--was closed! Why this space was unavailable for guests to sit--since there was no lobby space due to the renovation--was beyond us. We asked a staff member where we could sit while our room was cleaned and she gestured to a sofa that was immediately next to the construction zone--VERY noisy and uncomfortable--NOT intended to be sat upon! There was no attempt to accommodate us at all! It's probably fine when not being renovated...

Yes, currently under construction, but given those circumstances a very good experience. The staff is polite and eager to make you feel at home. Kudos to the morning Chef and staff for making a delicious breakfast with a variety of options each day. Am looking forward to visiting once the construction has been completed

I stayed here to save a few bucks. It was close to my destination and I liked the thought of saving some money. Yes, the registration desk was shoved into a small room, but the staff was pleasant and eager to satisfy. There were no restrooms on the main floor, but two rooms on the second floor were being used. Not classy, but functional. My room was clean and the A/C worked just fine. By the end of my stay the main desk was in its newly remodeled area.

I'd make dinner plans somewhere else if you stay there now. The waiter looked like the Maytag repair man all alone, dying of boredom.

Cheap room and coupon paid for movie rental. If the staff remain upbeat during this, I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay when the remodeling is done or go now to save a buck and stay in a quiet hotel with moderate inconveniences.
