My husband and I stayed at the Radisson for one night to just "get away" We got the room for $40/night on Hotwire so it wasn't a bad deal. The room was comfortable and the king size bed was too, once we figured out how to use the remote control that monitored the hardness of the bed. We swam in the pool and it was clean and nice. There were many sun chairs for the size of the pool, so it wasn't difficult to find a place to tan. The staff isn't rude but not overly friendly.
We would stay here again for the price, there were no complaints or problems. There are restaurants at the hotel that we did not try. Other than that there are tons of restaurants by Woodfield Mall, but they are about a 10 minute drive away. I am used to restaurants close enough to the hotel that you can walk to. There is just one in any kind of close proximity to the Radisson named Pizazz.
The Radisson at Schaumburg is not a bad deal for the price.

“No staff!!!!”

I must have stayed over a set of "busy" dates..or so I was told that was the reason for the "lack of service" I was receiving, as was stated to me by a nice gentleman at the front desk.
Staff was minimul to bare in the restaurant, and it was almost full to capacity!! Room Service (was this offered there)???...couldn't get through to them and gave up on that option!
Front Office staff was ok...a bit unprofessional..but would be ok with a little tweeking! Nice perk with the compliementary airport shuttle (only one in the burbs I believe).
Overall there seems to be a problem with the staffing at this hotel, and if you are one who requires a lot of attention...you won't get it here!

“OK, but out in the sticks”

Radisson Hotel Schaumburg

Apr 4, 2005

My husband and I stayed there two weeks ago for two nights. Our room was very clean and comfortable, but the major disappointment was that the courtesy bus to O'Hare only ran on the hour. As the hotel is some way from the airport, it would be a good idea to run a second bus, making a half hour turnaround. We only encountered the reception staff. A male receptionist refused to change a US$20 traveller cheque when we asked - we needed it for the train to downtown. He said it was "company policy". Jobsworth. The man in the hotel gift shop didn't have a problem changing it. Would I stay there again? Probably not. I'd look for a hotel nearer downtown.

“disappointed”

I stayed at the Radisson because I got a good deal through hotwire - around $50/night - this was summer of 2004. They were undergoing some construction, so the whole front lobby area and entrance was torn up. Our first room we got faced the front of the building where all the construction was, so we requested a different room. They moved us, and our second room smelled musty and was very old looking. The rooms had sliding glass doors looking out onto a balcony of sime kind, but ours was broken, would not totally close properly, and I thought "great, all the mosquitos at night will come into our room". The outdoor pool was pretty good looking, but then you realize that other people from the apartment complex across the ways had access to the pool also, who were not staying at the hotel. Maybe the hotel gives them a price break or something - who knows. There is plenty to do in the area around the hotel, but overall if you are looking for nicer place to stay, don't stay here.

My husband and I reseved this room for 5 nights through Hotwire at $43 a night, but this hotel wasn't even worth that great price. Each room (and I saw 4) has bad carpet, dirty, thin walls, bad plumbing and the appearance that it was built in the '60's. Our room was close to the elevator, so we could hear and feel the vibration continuously. Their room service food is good, but after tacking on $2 for each order, 18% gratuity and tax, it's just not worth the price. The staff is nice, but they don't have very much to work with. If you're a "Springbreaker" this is the place for you, otherwise, stay away!
