“New Year's Eve”

Embassy Suites Hotel Chicago - Schaumburg / Woodfield

We booked 9 rooms to enjoy our family get together on New Years Eve. We never saw so many kids running around uncontrollable without being supervised by their parents. There was a kid peeing in one of the glass elevators. There were 2 girls making out being filmed by a guy. There was a couple in the hall getting it on. We called the main desk and complained several times, but they said they didn’t couldn’t keep up because they didn’t have enough staff. There were things being thrown from the balconys. It took their cleanup crew over one hour to clean the mess up. You had to wait in a line for 10 mins to get a drink when it was Happy Hour.

To make matters worse when one of the couples went out to their car the next day the entire hood of their car was scratch. They contacted the general manager (Lee) 2 times and he said someone from their corporate office would get back to us. It is now January 30 and we haven’t heard anything from them. If you look on the BBB there are many complaints - DON’T STAY THERE.

“Bad experiences”

Embassy Suites Hotel Chicago - Schaumburg / Woodfield

As a Hilton Honors diamond member and business traveler, I am generally very satisfied with the Hilton chain... this hotel was the exception. I stayed here for 2 weeks. You may be tempted to say here as it across the street from Motorola, but consider the Hyatt as an alternative -- I switched. According to the hotel, there is a lot of copper in the building (a real lot!) That means in almost all rooms you will have zero cell phone reception. The internet in this place is a mess. It would work below average one night, not work at all the next night. Their internet company said this hotel has problems. If you are not diamond, you pay $10 a night. If diamond, you expect to stay in a hotel where it will work. Had lots of other problems. You get the point... try elsewhere if you are a business traveler.

“Relaxing stay in Chicago suburbs”

Embassy Suites Hotel Chicago - Schaumburg / Woodfield

We arrived at the Embassy Suites after a long tedious drive through rush hour traffic from downtown Chicago. The hotel is easy to find - it's not far off of I-90 and is located in an area surrounded by offices. The hotel grounds with the outside fountain were very inviting. The hotel is a typical Embassy Suites with an attractive atrium and clean comfortable rooms. I always enjoy the extra space in the Embassy Suites rooms along with the small kitchen space, especially the small refrigerator. The hotel staff was very helpful and attentive. I needed a bandaid for a blister I had gotten on my foot that day and they easily accommodated my request. We ordered room service for our evening meal from the onsite restaurant that features "New Orleans" cuisine. The food arrived promptly and was very good. We ordered sandwiches and the prices seemed reasonable, about what we would have paid had we gone to an Applebees or similar restaurant. The hotel is about two miles away from Woodfield Mall. Just head south on Meacham Road and you are there. There are plenty of restaurants near the mall if you do not want to dine at the hotel. There is no shopping or dining close to the hotel. The main reason I picked this hotel was because I could earn triple points in the Hilton Honors program. It turned out to be a good decision, as we had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay.

This hotel has a large center atrium with suites around the balconies. I always wonder how safe these atrium hotels are in case of a fire when the atrium fills with smoke. Each suite has a glass door, which can be covered with a heavy curtain. Suites have a bar, two TVs, fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The decor is kind of faux spanish, which is a bit incongruous in Schaumburg, IL. Lamps in my living room were dim but OK at the writing desk. $9.95 for 24h charge for internet access. Small business center off the lobby. Room was clean and amenities of good quality. The gym has only about 5 cardiovascular machines and was very warm; it is right off the pool. There was no strength equipment or free weights, but there is a sauna. The pool is too small for serious swimming. Complementary newspaper, Newsweek, cocktails and popcorn, as well as a full cooked breakfast, are included in the room, which cost my sponsor $119 including tax. This hotel is adjacent to a new Schaumburg convention center, American Veterinary Medicine Assn headquarters, Conagra foods headquarters, and across the street from a big Motorola plant. Freeway access is easy and it has a shuttle to O'Hare. The hotel has meeting rooms. Nothing much to walk to but close to a major mall. You pretty much have to have a car to enjoy this location. Good place for a business meeting, and good value. Italian restaurant on premises but I did not try it.

We stayed at the Embassy Suites Schaumburg for a week at Easter. The rooms are a good size, clean, well-maintained and pretty quiet. Front desk staff were helpful and polite. The hotel has a very pretty atrium, manager's drinks were great, breakfasts were ok - but staff too keen to close up and clear away, and they kept running out of bacon :-(. Pool looked good, but was usually full of kids, although they do have a late night adult hour. Location is good for visiting the mall and Ikea, no highway traffic noise.
