This hotel has a large center atrium with suites around the balconies. I always wonder how safe these atrium hotels are in case of a fire when the atrium fills with smoke. Each suite has a glass door, which can be covered with a heavy curtain. Suites have a bar, two TVs, fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The decor is kind of faux spanish, which is a bit incongruous in Schaumburg, IL. Lamps in my living room were dim but OK at the writing desk. $9.95 for 24h charge for internet access. Small business center off the lobby. Room was clean and amenities of good quality. The gym has only about 5 cardiovascular machines and was very warm; it is right off the pool. There was no strength equipment or free weights, but there is a sauna. The pool is too small for serious swimming. Complementary newspaper, Newsweek, cocktails and popcorn, as well as a full cooked breakfast, are included in the room, which cost my sponsor $119 including tax. This hotel is adjacent to a new Schaumburg convention center, American Veterinary Medicine Assn headquarters, Conagra foods headquarters, and across the street from a big Motorola plant. Freeway access is easy and it has a shuttle to O'Hare. The hotel has meeting rooms. Nothing much to walk to but close to a major mall. You pretty much have to have a car to enjoy this location. Good place for a business meeting, and good value. Italian restaurant on premises but I did not try it.
