“Slighted dated decor but good value with everything that you'll need”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2011

We were attending a friend's wedding and decided to stay in Schaumberg. We figure this is a great location, with lots of restaurants and a great mall right by the hotel (less than 10 minutes drive). The schaumberg mall kept us busy and it is definitely one of the best thing surrounding the hotel. The overall decor of the hotel needs updating, the carpet, chair's and the surrounding area just looks old.. aside from the decor, the staff are very friendly, the rooms are huge with all the amendities that you'll need. The hotel also provides free breakfast with a great selection, nothing cheesy at all. There's also a pool in the hotel for all the families with kids. Overall, I do recommend this hotel for those with families, it is a great way to have a place to stay and keep your kids entertained without spending a fortune.

This hotel, right off of I-90, is centrally located by a wonderful shopping venue (IKEA, The Container Store, a 300 store mall) as well as many interesting restaurant choices (Cheesecake Factory, Webber Grill). The hotel itself is clean and inviting. In the lobby there are many chairs/tables perfect for groups that would like to spend time outside of their rooms. The room we stayed in was a suite (2double beds and a living area). It was equipped with a microwave, and a refrigerator. There was also a small couch and a comfy chair. The living area also included a small round table perfect for playing a game of cards. The lobby area has many live plants, and a small fountain that help create a relaxing atmosphere. The hotel offers a FREE cook to order breakfast as well as juice, cereal, and toast. The staff members were polite and helpful.

Our family stayed at the Embassy Suites Schaumburg during the last leg of our Chicago area trip this year. We have stayed here in the past (once last year) and I had my reservations then. I used Hilton Honors points for my stay, so it was the only double bed in the area to be found in a Hilton property.
Be informed that this particular Embassy Suites has not been remodeled in years. The outside is pretty standard and very clean, as well as the lobby and the atrium area. The theme is "Old New Orleans", so if you are looking for sleek and modern you are pretty much out of luck. The staff was helpful and we were able to find a cart for our luggage (and numerous kids stuffed animals, pillows, gadgets, etc.), unfortunately we are a 'do it yourself' family, but they insisted on having the concierge take our bags to our room (we paid a 5 dollar tip for 5 bags total). If you are looking for a luggage cart just sitting around I would say don't waste your time and call or go to the front desk.
The evening managers reception is OK, but they rarely have much to offer except soda, booze, and oddly matched hors d'oeuvres ...if you are into that. The popcorn was nice for the kids so I have to give them that.
So, on to the rooms. I guess the only comment I have there is: what a big disappointment. The only positive things in the room were that it was a two room suite and had newer 37 inch LCD TV's. The queen sized hide-a-bed couch was very old and sagging in the middle. It was dingy and I was honestly afraid to sit on it. The small arm chair was the best we had and we all fought over it since it was the most comfortable. The table had 3(?) chairs, not 4, so only 3 of us could sit at it at a time. The 'minibar' (if you can call it that) had a dated counter and refrigerator that kept freezing our food and drinks. The bathroom was dingy, but clean. We found it very odd that all the counters in the suite were granite and high-end, but everything else looked like they picked it up at a 1980's consignment store.
The bedroom in the suite had two double beds. Again, I am not sure if this is a Chicago-area 'thing' to offer double beds or what. The beds were actually comfortable, but with two kids and two adults we could hardly fit. No one would sleep on the pull-out couch, so we went to Walmart and bought a aerobed so we could all at least sleep for the duration. Be warned that this Embassy does NOT offer cots, so don't expect it.
We did have a small ant problem in our bathroom and in the front room of the suite, but we were so frustrated by the end of the 3 day stay that we didn't notify the manager. I figured if housekeeping wasn't aware (and there was no way they were not), that it was not our job to assist with the upkeep of this miserable place.
Just a note, all of us suffered from allergy issues while in this hotel. Thankfully we brought benadryl and other antihistamines to stave off the attacks. Although our room was non-smoking, the whole hotel had an odd aire of old cigarette smoke. The carpets were reasonably clean, but pretty worn in areas.
The pool is acceptable, but pretty murky. I don't think the pool maintenance crew has a very good grasp on how to keep water clean. I wouldn't get in it but my kids insisted. The area was also very hot, so sitting and watching your kids is an exercise in patience.
The air conditioning in the hotel could barely keep up with the heat outside and our room was warm most of the time. We had it cranked all the way down and it still didn't get below 74. So, if you run warm normally, I would make sure you think of this before booking here...just my thoughts.

Room Tip: If you have a large family get two rooms, one king and one two-double...you all won't fit in the...

really surprised how well worn this hotel was. not like other embassy suites we've stayed in. Pool was so off in chemicals that it was cloudy and only one light. kids couldn't see there hands in front of there face

beds were awesome, pillows were tot sized, toilet was loosened from wall. overall though the hotel was really clean just worn.

breakfast buffet was good just not as big as we're used to from an embassy suites.

will select another hotel next time in town , which is not that often.

This hotel is very nice. This was our first time here and it was wonderful. After you go past the lobby, there is a very large tall open area. There's a fountain, gardens, and benches to relax. A little extra is that it's very close to IKEA.

The elevators were glass and we had a beautiful view. The rooms themselves are large, until the sofa bed is folded out. Then you may have a hard time exiting. The door is glass so you have to cover it up with a curtain. In our room, there were three sinks, which may be a bit superfluous.

The pool is comparatively small, but the hot tub is nice. The fitness center has around 5 machines. The breakfast is plentiful and has tons of variety, including hash browns! There is also a restaurant there, but we did not visit there.

Overall, this is a great hotel and we'll probably be back!

We stayed at Embassy Suites for 3 nights last weekend. No problems at all. Our room was very clean and was cleaned daily. Within 3 hours of check-in we received 2 different calls from the front desk asking if they could do anything for us. Fantastic breakfast as all Embassy Suites have. Everyone was very friendly. Very close to the mall and good restaurants. Only problem we had was not the hotel's fault--kids yelling at their parents from the balcony during the evening recepition and parents yelling back at their kids. Some people just don't have very good manners. We enjoyed our stay.

our family stayed at this hotel due to a dance competition that was hosted at another local hotel/convention center. upon arrival, it was obvious that the staff, in general, was not very happy that they were receiving this many guests, many of whom were children. this was more than surprising as one of the doormen had mentioned that this hotel "is never busy", and they had not only sold a tremendous number of rooms for the week, but also was our chosen venue for our annual banquet. one particular front desk attendant, whom i regret not getting her name, was extremely rude and spent much of her time with me rolling her eyes and huffing in obvious exasperation. i had the (dis)pleasure of dealing with her again as our room key was not working and she had to bring us a newly programmed key. upon entering the room, which was EXTREMELY tidy, she looked around in disdain as a mother would do to a child who hadn't cleaned his bedroom. maybe she noticed the frayed fabric on the arm of the chair...not sure. needless to say, i was appalled and insulted. the cleaning staff was decent with the exception of leaving rolls of toilet tissue on the vanity instead of placing them on the holders. the "gatekeepers" of the breakfast area were actually laughable as they policed the premises to ensure that nobody entered the area even one minute past "closing time", and children, god forbid, didn't try to get their own food. i heard numerous comments about how rude these people were.
the actual physical building and rooms are dingy and need updating. it is not reflective of other embassy suites that we have stayed in. although we weren't expecting the ritz, an updated, clean and bright room would have been nice.
i would recommend that you look at other hotels in the area before booking here. several friends stayed at the hotel that is attached to the convention center and had a great stay. although i noticed that there were tons of kids staying there during the week, the staff was consistently helpful and cheerful. there are enough other mid-range hotels to choose from in this location to settle for a drab room and bad service.
