“Poor service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

Was busy when we arrived so expected a wait but over an hour for the food is excessive. To add insult we were then told to re join the queue to pay which took over 20 mins. Won't be going back.

“Worth coming for the sandwiches”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013 via mobile

We have eaten here 6-8 times in the past year. The sandwiches are great. I agree to some extent with other reviewers about slow service but the longest we've had to wait is about 30 mins, I'd put that down to the fact that every sandwich is freshly made. We tend to go early evening and at that time there aren't too many customers. The car park is small so a number of vehicles end up on the grass verge - beware! The pub is not one of those modern atrocities, it is 15th Century Grade II listed and is welcoming and friendly. In winter there is a real fire to warm you on those cold evenings. Definitely go for the food. Be prepared to wait but it will be fresh when you get it. It is popular with walkers and cyclists as the Jubilee River with its recreation facilities is nearby.

“A 2 hour wait for soup and a sandwich.....Appalling!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

After hearing rave reviews from friends and family, my boyfriend and I decided to give this place a try. Huge variety in the menu but I'm afraid that's where the positives end. Had to queue for ONE HOUR to order food with only ten people ahead and then had to wait another whole hour for it to arrive! The food was fine, nothing special, and definately not worth the wait. And it's worth noting that it wasn't just our food that took this long. Everyone around us was waiting just as long. The bar manager was unprofessional complaining about "the incompetence" of his staff to the people at the table next to us but, I have to admit, I agree with him. We definately won't be going back here again and I won't be recommending it. Soup and a sandwhich just isn't worth the hassle!

“Great sandwiches but really slow service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

Great pub to go to after a long walk as the sandwiches are huge and pretty tasty, plus it's very dog friendly with free doggie biscuits and bowls of water for them to drink. But it took about half an hour to get served at the bar. They were also very slow at clearing the tables. Perhaps we picked a day when they were short-staffed.

“Dogs and Sandwiches”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2013

Everyone I talk to raves about this place, but really, how hard is it to make a sandwich. OK its a nice sandwich, if you dont mind the lack of space and the dogs & their walkers.
