I wish whoever runs this hotel was managing all hotels. The place is spotless. Staff is very friendly. More then enough hot water and as hot as you can stand it. Comfy beds. Room is a tad small but not a problem. Two beds, desk, easy chair. Plenty of lights. Limited outlets. Breakfast was as good as it can get. HUGE selection. We stay in a lot of hotels and would be happy if they were all like this one.

I have stayed in this hotel for a long time more then two months and I must say this is by far one of the better ones I stayed in over the last 25 Years of travelling.
Very nice and helpful staff in every way,clean rooms and the inside off the hotel hallways and such clean and mainatined.
Nice workout room and free breakfast better then I am used to.
Overall a very nice stay and I will certainly stay here again.

Room Tip: I like the rooms overlooking the inner yard real quiet.

I go to St. Charles Illinois for expositions. This was my second stay at this particular hotel. I find the staff to be friendly and courteous, the rooms to be clean, and overall, a generally acceptable stay. This will be my hotel when I'm staying in the area.

We had good luck staying at the HIE in St. Charles. We got a room that overlooked the courtyard. After we got there, we found out the hotel is dog friendly so we may bring Fido if we return. There is also an outdoor pool but since it was about 8 degrees we decided not to swim this visit!

8 night stay in two different rooms; #200 King Suite w/ spa tub & #206 Standard King

We have stayed here a number of times over the past few years; it has always been a good
stay. This time the exceptional friendlines and service of the staff were the most notable
highlights. Jen, the front desk person, was very welcoming and made our transfer from
one room to the other as seamless as it could ever be ( change was due to change in
type of room we needed not due to any problem). The manager,Bob, seemed to be
always around, checking with guests, checking the property both inside & out, and
just generally being friendly in a way to make sure we were comfortable and satisfied.
The rooms had good beds with plenty of pillows; cleanliness was overall very
good; the maids did a thorough job; the rooms are well maintained and may have had
some refurb since our last stay. We did not notice any smoke smell in any area of the
hotel.
The one area of the rooms that need work are the bathrooms-they were clean enough,
but the fixtures--esp. the vanity tops, the tub/showers, and the doors are "tired".
There is no elevator which is somewhat of an issue when four people are staying
for a long stay & the top floor is the best choice for quiet.
The breakfast is standard HIE fare, with a new (to us ) automatic pancake maker;
an 8 day stay does pretty well exhaust the combinations/possibilities.
Overall, a very fine stay, we will stay here again, we recommend it; better bathrooms
could move this hotel to the excellent level.

You will be happy to learn that we have completed upgrading the granite vanity countertops, sinks and faucets in all of our guest bathrooms. Stayed here for two nights in October 2012. Can't tell you how disappointed I was with the condition of this Holiday Inn Express.

Although clean in apprearance, the room , hallway, and balance of the hotel smelled like it had been smoked in heavily for the last several decades. Overpowering to be honest with you.

It is what it is, so my wife and two kids loaded in to the room. After the kids made all their noise about the rough smell, we sat down on the beds and couldn't believe how worn out they were. Between the audible clunk of the springs and the fact that both beds were so worn out that you had no choice but to roll to the middle of the bed, we resigned ourselves to a crappy night of sleep.

Extremely disappointed. I've stayed at countless Holiday Inn Express properties and never have I stayed at one so outdated and in poor repair.

Last time I'll stay here and will definitely reconsider our loyalty to Priority Club properties from here on.

Dear matherdad,

Thank you for taking the time to express your opinions about the Holiday Inn Express. I completely agree with you that our rooms are all "clean in appearance" as our housekeeping staff does an excellent job every day ensuring a high level of cleanliness.

I am sorry that you experienced an unacceptable smell of smoke in your guestroom and hallway. While we do still have a handful of smoking rooms in the rear corridor of the property the staff tries very hard to keep any residual smell from penetrating other areas. Occasionally, as with any hotel, we have an inconsiderate guest who will smoke in a non-smoking room but we do our best to keep that to a minimum and extract a $200 charge if we so determine that to be the case.

As to your other issue, we are in the final stages of replacing any remaining older mattresses with all new pillow top mattresses and hope to complete that project very shortly.

Please accept my apologies for your less than 100% satisfactory stay, and know that we are doing our best to curtail these issues.

Three friends and I booked 2 rooms at this hotel for 3 nights, 10/4/12 - 10/7/12. It was a wonderful stay. The rooms were big; beds were very comfortable with plenty of pillows; shower head was great; flat screen TV; coffeemaker in room. One of the things that made such a good impression was that the hotel was very clean, and very quiet. The rooms and hallways must be very well insulated, as we didn't hear a sound all night. We were on the 2nd floor.

The hot breakfast was wonderful - cinnamon rolls; scrambled eggs or omelets; bacon or sausage; bisquits and gravy; several juices; coffee with flavored creamers - an extra nice touch; several teas; a pancake machine (which I've never seen); breads; bagels; English muffins; jams; jellies; peanut butter; little muffins; cereals; apples; bananas; hard boiled eggs and yogurt. Sorry if I missed anything - but you get the picture - a great breakfast. There was plenty of seating area, and you weren't crowded.

As good as the breakast, were the the warm cookies in the evening (and of course, coffee and tea to go with them).

The lobby is really nice, with plenty of room to relax. There are a couple of couches and comfy chairs. There was a nice big square table where we played cards in the evening, while enjoying our cookies and hot beverages.

There is a wonderful woman at the front desk, Lori, who gave us tips on activities and restaurants, always with a smile. Thank you, Lori, for your good service. You couldn't have been more helpful.

The only thing I would suggest, if you have a problem with steps, is to ask for a first floor room. There is no elevator at the hotel, and it has 2 stories. It didn't make a difference to us, but I hadn't thought about asking if there was an elevator.

It was a really great place to stay in every way. I would definitely stay again, and would recommend it to anyone lookinig for a really good hotel in St. Charles, IL.
