“A delightful haven on the north side of Verona”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2009

From the moment my wife and I turned into Delo's driveway, we knew we had found something special. Surrounded by vineyards and olive orchards, with views of snow-capped pre-Alp mountains to the north and Verona to the south, all dressed in fall colors, the property is picturesque to say the least. On arrival, we were met by our charming host, Ettore Mozzanega, who introduced us to the site, gave us tea, and offered us ample suggestions for our tour of Verona, including precise directions to a very convenient underground parking lot near the Roman theater. Our room was spacious, comfortable and immaculate. The bathroom fixtures appeared brand new and even included a built-in hairdryer. Our breakfasts were sumptuous and delicious, featuring a different freshly baked breakfast tart each morning of our stay. But best of all was the priceless experience of getting to know Ettore and his wife Antonia, who brought Italy alive for us and treated us not as guests, but as friends. It's worth considering that Delo is only about 5 minutes from Verona's Tangenziale Est, which connects easily with the A4 and provides ready access to Vicenza, Mantua, Lake Garda and all other cities from Venice to Milan. In short, Delo is a very good base for touring many sites in northern Italy. As for Verona, it took us only about 20 minutes from Delo to the parking lot mentioned above. Our route was easy driving, a straight shot with only one turn. I concur completely with mikec from Birmingham, whose review prompted us to make Delo the centerpiece of our tour from Venice to Lake Como. Neither my wife nor I shed tears when we told Ettore and Antonia goodbye, but we certainly hated to leave.

My wife and I just spent 3 wonderful nights at Agriturismo Delo. The property is lovely, with clean, spacious and comfortable rooms. You feel as if you're many miles into the countryside, but the old town of Verona is only 15 minutes away. The house is surrounded by vinyards and olive trees, and even includes a 1200 year old tower. However, all this is secondary to the warmth and friendliness shown by owners Ettore and Antonia Mozzanega. Upon arrival Etorre gave us a wonderful tour of the acreage and described how the house was restored. Then we were invited to join the family and some of their friends (who had just driven in from town) for drinks on the lovely lawn. That night we dined (at Ettore's recommendation) at a wonderful restaurant in a small town just 5 minutes away. We were the only "non-locals" there and our meal was delightful. Breakfast the next morning (and every morning) included not only the expected cereals, meat, cheese, breads, etc., but also Antonia's outstanding home-made jams and cakes. Ettore is a medical doctor and Antonia teaches Italian and History. I get the strong feeling that they built Agriturismo Delo only because they truly enjoy meeting people and making new friends. They are the most gracious hosts we've encountered, and my wife actually cried as we all hugged goodbye. We can't wait to return.
