“The best room ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2012

We booked this room for an overnight birthday trip. When we arrived at the hotel the wonderful desk clerk found out that it was our birthday and upgraded us to a king size mini suite. It was so thoughtful..and the room was absolutely wonderful. Everything was incredibly clean and new. The bathroom was awesome. The bed was very comfortable also.

My wife and I recently stayed here for a business conference. The hotel is outstanding. We loved our room with a view of Chicago. The room accomodations were all first class. The staff was super. They were all very professional and friendly. They were quick to assist with any request. We ate in Fresco 21, their hotel restaurant, and the food was delightful. We also appreciated their shuttle to and from the airport. There is also a subway station about five blocks nearby. It was easy to get to and from downtown. This is a great hotel and we will be back!

Room Tip: Request a room with a view of downtown Chicago.

I had a meeting in Chicago and was able to stay at this hotel for our seminar. The room I was in had a view of the forest across the street and a distant view of downtown Chicago. It is within walking distance to a Gibson's steakhouse and a few other dining locations are close by. I appreciated having a shuttle available to the guests that would take us to the L train. There is a L Train stop near the hotel which was very helpful as you don't want to be driving around Chicago during rush hour. I will say the bathroom had the "coolest" look to it.

I would recommend staying at this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that gives you a view of the forest and downtown Chicago.

United airlines did not help us much and would only get us out of Chicago to Indy late the next night. They would not give us an airline voucher for a room but they did provide us a “stranded at airport” voucher, it provided a discount rate at some airport hotels.

We were very lucky to get the Intercontinental hotel. It was a very nice, clean, comfortable, upscale hotel. The shuttle bus from airport was prompt and quick (10 minutes); the driver was very courteous and helpful. The hotel seemed to cater to “higher end” business travellers” but they also treated us “normal tourists” extremely well. The rooms are large enough and very nicely decorated. There was a large comfortable king bed with clean crispy quality linen. The room was very quiet which helped us recover from the stresses of delayed/missed flights and the frustrations of dealing with United! Luxurious bathroom with walk in rain shower and all the amenities needed.

We ate in the lobby restaurant (don’t remember the name) and had a good meal with a nice bottle wine. We had very good service, everybody was friendly and helpful. It was not overly expensive, about what you would expect at this type of facility. There are two other restaurants right at the hotel both looked to be upscale. We did not see any other nearby (walkable) options and suspect that the options would be similar at other local hotel complexes. This is typical airport hotel in business area we saw no fast food outlets, stores, etc. nearby.

The big prize for us was the helpful tips we got from the various hotel staff. At check the clerk commented on the stranded voucher and asked where we were headed. He off handily mentioned that it was only a 3 to 4 hour drive from Chicago to Indy and the lights went on. With the help of the concierge (Christopher) we found an alternate, cost effective way to get to Indy without having to wait until the next night and suffer loss of a day in Indy. We took hotel shuttle to airport train station (free). We then took the Blue line train direct to Union station downtown ($2.50 each and about 45 mins). From there we took “Mega Bus”. It is a 3 hour, 15 min ride to downtown Indy. It was a nice, comfortable, double decker bus. The cost was $47 for two people! And, no airport hassles. We also went downtown a bit early so as a side benefit we got to see some of the sights of downtown Chicago. We also got to see the country side on way to Indy.

All in all a great stay for us. The hotel and service provided a brief oasis in the madness of a weather delayed airport.

I stayed two nights, since I am an ambassador member, they offered me an upgrade, but there is no two beds room, so the girl did give me a free breakfast instead which was nice. Also I received fruit plate, two bottle of Fiji water every day and newspaper. The hotel is convieniently located south of O'hare airport, if there was no traffic, it took about 20 mins to Downtown. Hotel is very clean, the bed is very confortable and has large space even in the bath room. If you don't pay attention, you will miss all the noise from the plane land and take off from O'hare. The only issue that I encounter that was there is no door in the shower, there was a half glass wall and water easily splash out. Self parking is pricy but easy to use. It is a good hotel and will stay again. Also there is no swimming pool in the hotel.

Room Tip: Always higher floor

This is a lovely posh hotel situated in O Hare Airport - they have a curtesy shuttle to train station, airport and surrouding amenities. The rooms were ultra modern but we did feel that the double beds very the most tiniest of double beds that we have ever come across - we hade a family room with 2 double beds. We booked a full breakfast with our package (which was lucky as the price in the hotel was so expensive) - the quality of the breakfast and staff was second to none. The bar prices are very expensive also. We went for a walk whilst we waited on our plane and found 2 blocks down the street is a new entertainment area with a cinema, bowling alleys, restaurants and an Irish bar - had we known this was there, we would have ventured in the evening instead of paying exhorborant prices in the hotel - next time perhaps !

On a 9 hour delayed journey from Asia on United, I was put up for a few hours at the new Intercontinental at O'Hare airport. The airport pick-up was quick and efficient. Check-in was quick and efficient. The room was spacious and new. The best part was the massive shower with a ceiling mounted rain shower which I was most welcomed after a 13.5 hour journey. Ahhhh. But I wanted something to eat. Nothing healthy was offered as it was the nighttime and the staff only had what was microwavable or pre-prepared (I wanted a fruit salad but was denied.) Then I wanted to access the Internet to check my emails. There was a high charge for room Internet access. Even in the lobby (which usually has free Internet access in most hotels around the world), one had to pay for Internet service. There was a business center but alas that required payment too. I left for the airport where I entered the United Club for free access. Would I stay here again? If I had to pay, no. If an airline put me up, yes.
