Description: Hofbrauhaus Chicago is the first and only German micro brewery, beer hall, restaurant and beer garden to call Chicago home. Modeled after the legendary Hofbrauhaus in Munich, Germany, it takes pride giving you an experience as authentic and unforgettable as the 400-year-old original. Guests can savor schnitzels, sausages, Sauerbraten and pretzels, and some ingredients are even imported from abroad. The freshly brewed beer follows the purity law from 1516 using original recipes handed down by the Duke of Bavaria over 400 years ago. With its beer hall (Schwemme), King Ludwig Room, and Biergarten in summer, it's Oktoberfest every day. Hofbrauhaus Chicago also features live music nightly with bands from Germany and Austria. In addition, you can take a piece of Bavaria home from the gift shop stocked with authentic and unique Bavarian gifts & collectibles.

“They missed the mark here: Expensive, food average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

Very expensive restaurant for what they provide. Liters of beer for about $15. $9 large pretzel, and then there is dinner. Jägerschnitzel not tenderized or breaded, the gravy was weak, spaetzle bland. They could really improve on these things to make it a better value. I imagine that Rosemont is charging them an arm/leg for the location though.
The restaurant itself is very nice and the staff friendly.

“Great place to take a group”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

Fun place to eat, drink, be entertained. The food is typical German fare, kind of bland, but good. Beer is the best. I like the hefe weizen. You gotta get a huge pretzel while you're here. The bands engage the audience, which is fun. The stein holdiing competition is funny to watch. If you go while it's warm weather sit outside. It's easy to get to and they validate your parking. The only downfall is it's hard to carry on a conversation with all the noise, but after a few beers, who cares!

“More American than German”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

Of course it is not the same as the original in Munich - that is an amazing place and a classic. You would think the staff would know something about the history - but it seemed like a bunch of American's working at a German themed restaurant. Fun place but hoped for more.

“Go somewhere else ”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2013

Decent food, good beer. Awful entertainment. Go to a real German place for the real experience. This is fake with bad 80s cover bands every night . Overpriced imitation.

Jim O, General Manager at Hofbrauhaus Chicago, responded to this review, October 17, 2013
Hello,
I do apologize for the band. The bands are actually from Germany. We fly them here and they play for 1 month and we switch out the band. We encourage them to play some American tunes to mix it up. Usually that happens after 9pm. I hope to see you back here soon.

Thank you,
Jim GM Hofbrauhaus

“Non-stop party”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013

Live German music with non-stop beer garden party atmosphere. The band was flown in from Munich. Great celebration place.
