“NYE Package”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2010

My husband and I had a lovely stay at the Hyatt O'Hare. We booked the new years eve package which included the room as well as dinner at O'h and the nye party. We did have to pay $20 for parking, but I was expecting that. Our room was nice. I didn't think it was too small, plenty of room for the two of us. The bathroom was clean and bright. There are planes landing quite frequently, but I really didn't notice the sound. We would definitely stay here again for new years eve...the party was so much fun!

This one is pretty low by Hyatt standards. Rooms are small, staff is slow. Promised free internet but had to stand in a long line to get it taken off my bill at checkout. Upsides: 1. You can forgo a rental car as they offer a shuttle to O'Hare--however the door to the bus had to be jammed into place with repeated attendant assistance. 2. You can walk to the convention center without going outside. Tip--for a lighter breakfast the sandwich shop downstairs had some good food, no lines, and much cheaper than the lobby restaurant or the convention center.

The rooms were very clean and looked to be recently updated. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

However, the hotel does not have free internet and the restaurants/bars are expensive. The front desk quoted the Hyatt to be the second cheapest parking in the area, but it was horrible. The Hyatt website quotes the parking rate to be $20/day for overnight guests but when we were there it was $28/day.

We ended up parking the car at the Rosemont train stop for $12/day. The hotel is only a few blocks away from this stop and you get to downtown in 35-45 minutes. We took the train every day and found the commute to be a little too long for us.

We ended up getting the room for $50/night by booking online, which was great. However, I would really only recommend this hotel for airport or convention center travelers because of the location, parking, and amenities.

I have never received worst customer service. There was a line and a $22 fee to park in their hotel parking garage. Tehn we had to wait over an hr to checkin to the hotel even though we had pre-checked in online. When we finally reached the front desk, there were many added fees we were told earlier wouldnt exist. The Mgr CJ that I was approached by was extremely unfriendly and incompetent. I was shocked that she could even have such a title. Couldnt answer any questions, didnt have any intention of making the situation any better, horrible customer service.

I would never recommend this hotel to anyone!

PS- The rooms are extremely small.

The Hyatt Regency O'Hare offered amazing service. Every employee greeted us with a smile and a seemingly genuine offer of assistance, from the bellhop to the desk clerk to the restaurant staff.

Beautiful, modern lobby with upscale sports bar (unfortunately closed the night we were there) and bar & restaurant. Food & service at the restaurant were excellent.

Starbucks is available on the first floor for a quick to-go breakfast or coffee.

There was a large convention going on in the hotel while we were there, which made it a bit busy and noisy in the common areas.

Our room was in one of the circular towers, which gave it a unique pie-shape. King bed, 2 nightstands, clockradio with iPod input (by far the most user-friendly hotel clockradio we've seen), table with two chairs, dresser, TV, mini-bar fridge, beautifully appointed bathroom. Not exactly spacious, but well laid-out.

The only downside was that the room was drafty. The outer wall of the room is entirely glass. It was a cold winter night in Chicago and despite having the thermostat set at 74 degrees, some spots in the room were quite chilly.

Enjoyed one of the best rooms I've stayed in as a business traveler. Room was spacious; good lighting, desk and plenty of electrical outlets for plugging in phone and laptop chargers, etc. Bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was a bit plain and, although very clean, seemed old (expecially compared to the room itself). Service was OK but the restaraunt closed at 4 PM (Hotel was pretty quiet). If you are going anywhere, except on the airport shuttle, you will need a car. Nothing much wihtin reasonable walking distance.

Wow. I'm blown away by the conference services at the Hyatt O'Hare. We had a group of around 40 for a three day meeting and the folks at the Hyatt O'Hare were amazing. The room was set up beautifully with two enormous monitors for presentations, a small dias/stage, and AV. We had wireless internet for everyone in the room and it was easy to connect and fast. There were no technical glitches at all. The meeting ran perfectly.

The food and beverage was great. The set up was quiet and did not interrupt the meeting at all. There was something to nibble on at all times, which is great when you've got folks from all different time zones who are hungry at different times.

The hotel itself is beautiful. Yes, it's huge, but easy to navigate. We had rooms in the executive tower. The tower is numbered from floor 20 (lobby) to 29. At first I thought I had a room on the 25th floor, but no, it was the 5th. There are no views, but it's nice that the window opens a bit for some fresh air. I also liked that I could control the temperature in my room.

I was concerned that being so close to the airport would mean that I'd be rattled in my bed by noise, but this was not the case. The room was quiet, muffled almost. I slept wonderfully.

The remodel is lovely and modern, the beds are comfortable, with big fluffy comforters. The flat screen TV is enormous with a generous selection of channels, although being an airline crew and business hotel, they only had Disney and no other channel for kids.

The shuttle was convenient and comfortable and ran frequenly between the hotel and airport. There are quite a few good, national chain restaurants in the area a short cab ride from the hotel, nothing within walking distance (and certainly not in walking distance in sub-zero temps.)

Carlucci's Italian restaurant has a shuttle from their restaurant, so you can call them to come pick you up if you'd like. We had a dinner there and it was good. We also dined at McCormick and Schmicks and that was great.

If you are considering a meeting in Chicago and want a convenient, professional venue, with great rooms and food, then you should book the Hyatt O'Hare!
