“Great for business travelers!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013 via mobile

If you are traveling on business and want to stay near the airport then this place is for you. There is a shuttle from to and from the airport every half hour. This hotel is Starwood Hotel group's traveler version of their "W" line. The hotel stays with the hip modern decor through out. Cool lobby with a bar lounge for after meeting drinks. Although I did not use the workout room or indoor pool, I wanted to mention they are amenities available to hotel guests. I stayed in a standard room with a king bed. The room was small with modern decor.

Service: very accomadating to business travelers.
Location: next to airport and new restaurants and bars.
Price: average compared to nearby hotels
Overall: I would stay again.

The Aloft hotel is an interesting place to stay. If flying into ORD, the shuttle runs every half hour and has been very dependable for each of my trips to Chicago. (Just follow the signs to the shuttle area) Once you arrive at the hotel, the staff has always been pleasant and helpful. (at least for me, one of my business colleagues shared there was one particular clerk that was quite the opposite). Starting at the elevator with it "squishy" flooring (like walking on covered jello....a treat to some) to the rooms, the hotel is clean and rooms have all of the necessary amenities; though, on one occassion the remote for the TV needed batteries and I had to take the unit to the front desk and have it exchanged. For the environmentally minded individuals, Aloft has a policy if you forego the daily cleaning (made bed, fresh towels, etc.) that you receive a $5 voucher for there very well stocked pantry/breakfast area. Quite nice!! Pool and weight room are acceptable but nothing over the top,. If not renting a car, the hotel shuttle runs to the nearby train center for transit to Chicago; plus, there are 7+ restaurants within a couples minutes of walking. (Many more 10-15 minutes) Good location though, dependent upon wind direction, ORD flights may fly directly over the hotel and create a slight bit of noise.

I thought this was one of the coolest, most modern hotels I have ever stayed in. I was surprised with the bedding, being that it basically doesnt have a box spring, and is low to the ground. It may not seem like it, it was very comfortable. The hotel uses super-modern decor and simplistic designs. The WXYZ bar was comfortable, but a bit pricey. All of the staff were friendly and eager to please. There are also many restaurants within a 2 minute walk (on sidewalks) of the hotel. I wish I had another day or 2 to try the others around the hotel.

Once again, impressed by the simplicity Aloft tends to be so successful with. This hotel is fairly new and very clean. Easy access to everything in the entertainment district of Rosemont, Casino, Ohare, you name it. Great staff, easy access WXYZ bar, dedicated parking, all good stuff!

Room Tip: I think most of these hotels are laid out the same so I always try to get something close to the ele...

This place is pretty much a good idea gone awry: create a clean, stlyish, yet lower cost name brand hotel. On the surface it is. But the quality of the furnishings and amenities are so poor and cheap that Aloft manages to shoot itself in the foot every step of the way.

Arriving by car is really confusing. You can see the building, but the entrance is hidden in back, and while there are signs directing you into the parking garage, it is counter-intuitive to anyone wanting to pull up, unload, check-in, and then park. So, the whole experience starts in a cold, chaotic parking garage, and doesn't get much better from there, despite genuinely friendly service. Can't blame the folks who work there -- in fact, they are to be commended for working around the myriad shortcomings with a smile. Oh, and btw, plan on $20/night for parking.

Once in the room, the (free) wi-fi did not work, requiring a trip back to reception because there is no in-house phone system. The friendly tech guy showed up promptly, but couldn't really solve the problem because he wasn't really the tech guy, leaving me an ethernet cord that worked just enough and just in time for me to do an online conference call.

The room looked nice and comfortable, but many things just didn't work right, making the experience one annoyance after another. The heat/ac unit roared so loudly that I had to mute my phone or speaker while on a call. The desk lamp is not adjustable, making it awkward to do certain work. There's no place to hang and keep a towel dry in the shower, and the seal on the doors is so bad that I stepped out into a flooded bathroom floor. The refrigerator hums like it is working away, but kept nothing cold no matter what setting, wasting the cut-fruit I bought for breakfast, and offering me a warm beer after a hard day's work. The bed is better than sleeping on floor....feels like a futon, and the pillows are foam, of course. A uniformed guard roams the hall --- I expect a hotel to have some security, but the uniform is a dead giveaway to anyone on the prowl, and a disconcerting sight to a guest who desires the perception of safety. Security is, in fact, a concern, as anyone can wander in from the parking lot via the second floor bridge without the risk of being seen by someone in the lobby, making for quite an invitation to the criminally-minded.

As for value, the rate was $129. But for another $40 I could have been at a high quality hotel without this litany of annoyances and concerns (and probably saved the parking fee). In fact, last trip to Chicago, I got the top-notch Hyatt Regency across the road for $55/night on Priceline, where everything ran smooth as silk. So, if I can't get real savings directly or via Priceline, I'll just cough-up the relatively few dollars extra to be someplace that's up to par.

This is new hotel and the TV had a purple line down the middle. The sprinkler heads did not have covers just the rough cut in drywall. Showed up at 3 and could not purchase a beer in the hotel until 5. Pillows and bed not comfortable

Needing an overnight option convenient to the Stephenson Convention Center in Rosemont for a convention, I came across the Aloft, a brand I've never tried before in my travels. Personally, I don't care about the trendy factor, but since it was a deal, and my infrequent traveler business partner was tagging along, I went for it. Oh, and when I say a deal, I'm talking about 40-50% less than every other hotel in the immediate vicinity - including the one that the convention had a "deal" with. Very happy with the decision.
Check-in was quick, and our room on the 5th floor was very nice and very clean. The rooms are not large, but with all of the traveling I've been doing the past 18 months, I've become a firm believer that well laid out is more important than square footage - at least for one or two business travelers.
The bathroom is large, and divided into two separate areas, which is a big plus when there are two in the room. The large walk-in shower was nice, but for such a big space, they missed a great opportunity to have an awesome showerhead and one or two wall jets. It is also very neatly segregated from the bedroom area, also a plus when there are two in the room, and you don't want to disturb one another.
The way the room was furnished, it looked like two desks, one by each window, but only one had a chair - fine for a king room, but probably worth the investment for a second chair in rooms with two queens. No big deal, MB Financial Park next door dissuaded either of us from trying to do much work that evening.
The exercise room and pool were also very nice, although a hot-tub or sauna (trendy, no?) would have been nice at the end of the night.
My only real complaint would be the lightswitches all by the door. This could be remedied by getting lamps with switches the next time the place is updated.
