This was my third stay at the Comfort Inn Rockford in the last 3 years. It's a rather unassuming little hotel (less than 100 rooms) off East State St and less than 5 minutes from the tollway entrance. Every time I check in I'm treated with courtesy and respect and my reservation is always in order. I normally book a king "suite" (the definition of a "suite" has really be diluted over the years) and I prefer to be on the 3rd floor so there isn't anyone over me. My request has always been accommodated and for that I'm appreciative. My rooms at this Comfort have always been clean and are kept very clean during my stay. The bathroom is functional if not terribly spacious, but it was spotlessly clean and they offered decent amenities (soap, shampoo, lotion, etc). I was pleased to note that even though mine was a smoking room, I did not see any burn marks anywhere. One day during my stay I wasn't feeling well and requested that housekeeping skip my room that day. The front desk called to see if I needed any clean towels or if they should come empty the trash and I thought it was nice that they took the time to call and inquire. My last day there I realized that check-out is at 11:00 AM (travelers, take note!), so I made a call to the front desk to see if I could get a late check-out at Noon. The front desk clerk said "No problem, Mr. A. In fact, would 1:00 PM be better for you?" Wow! I accepted the 1:00 PM check-out and was able to relax and pack without being rushed. Nor did housekeeping ever come knocking on my door. I find the complimentary "breakfast" do be somewhat lacking in context so I've never partaken of it. The indoor "pool" (really, it's just an oversized bathtub) and hot tub area are clean but I've never seen more than one or two people in there. Restaurants in this area of town are plentiful in every price range. it's always been very quiet when I stay here and for that I'm grateful. When the hotel is full parking can be a problem, so if you can be sure to walk to nearby restaurants or you may not have a space when you return. It's a good value for the money and I get Southwest Airlines credit, too. The Comfort Inn Rockford is comfortable, consistent and dependable.
