We knew what we were walking into and laughed at most of it, but in reality this place has little to offer. We went with our two small children on the Saturday after Christmas primarily for the Water Park. I'm still not sure if I've gotten the chemical smell off my body from the water, but like I said - that's sort of an expectation if you've read any of the reviews here. We also had a fan that blew heat in our room that sounded like something on a 747 instead of an HVAC system. So loud we couldn't hear the kids in the room downstairs (in an open loft). I don't think the people working there would have done anything if we asked - it was kind of a free for all. There was a comic book convention that weekend and all sorts of people were there in costume. It kind of fit the setting. There's no way we'd go back. I think swimming in Lake Michigan in January might be a better option.

I don't even know where to start. They didn't have my reservation through Travelocity and had to contact the site. First time I've had an issue with Travelocity so I'm guessing it was Clocktower's issue. We arrived at the hotel at 3:30pm and was told check it is 4pm. 4pm check in is the latest we've ever heard of. We waited til 4:15pm and went to check in, room still not ready. The front desk just kept telling me that she "blocked out" our room it's just not ready yet. What does that even mean? The rooms were a decent size but very outdated. No fridge or microwave. 2 small bath towels for 4 people with a nice little sign telling us that if any towels are missing, we'll be charged after we leave. Sliding glass door to patio was extremely had to open and in pretty bad shape. Now on to the water park: absolute disaster. My kids had fun because they're young and didn't care about how bad of shape and poorly run it was. As other travelers have complained, they closed at 7pm even though the website states 9pm. Another reviewer complained about this a good month or two before our travel and was told they needed to update the website. Apparently 2 months isn't long enough to change the hours on the website (which is very poor itself). We were also treated to a new "green" policy which entailed the water park no longer offering towels! Are you kidding, no more towels at a water park?! The park was cold, had very few seats, overflowing garbage cans, no one in the snack shop or bar for extended periods of time, and to top it off, one bench in a rusted out nasty locker room. Multiple men standing around taking turns to sit in order to put on socks and shoes - absolutely ridiculous! On to breakfast: if you stay here, do yourself a favor and skip it. No cereal or milk even. Chocolate pudding for breakfast dumped into a big bowl? 3 hour old coffee. And, they made sure we stayed in the hotel before we took part in this wonderful buffet. I've never had a hotel do that before. Who sneaks into a hotel for a breakfast of cheap chocolate pudding? I've got more but I think this is enough to convey our feeling about this "resort". Needless to say, we will not be staying here again.

Room Tip: Don't stay here is the only tip I have.

Let me first say that we have stayed at this hotel on two previous occasions without incident. This, our third stay, was much different and will be our last. First of all, when you are entering the hotel through the convention center entrance, you are greeting by cigarette littered sidewalk that apparently is not swept. Then on to the filthy doors with smears, smudges, fingerprints, dust and spills that appear not to have been cleaned for days if not longer! (In fact, an employee was hanging a New Year's party sign on the door the morning of our departure and didn't think twice about cleaning it before hanging the sign.) The rooms: old and outdated and do not have refrigerators (had to pay $10 extra for an amenity included in most modern hotels). The bathtubs are old and stained, the hairdryers, although they work are very old. The bed had about a 4 inch deep crater in the center and was not at all comfortable.

CocoKey Waterpark is okay for small children and can keep them entertained for hours, as long as the hours aren't cut short by management. I understand that the management reserves the right to change the established hours, however, on the date of our stay, 12/30/13, the hours listed online indicated that the waterpark and arcade closing time was 9:00pm. Upon entering the park, there was a sign indicating all park hours for the winter break. 9:00pm was also listed on the sign. Inside the park, where you pick up towels (inside the guard shack) 9:00pm was also listed on the sign. Our son and his friend enjoyed the waterpark for a few hours after check in. We went for dinner and then on to the arcade. At about 6:30p we headed back to the arcade and waterpark. At about 6:45p, they started flashing the arcade lights signaling for it's closure. Sure enough, everyone in the waterpark was also exiting! We went back to the sign on the waterpark door and the 9:00pm had been changed to 7:00pm with a green magic marker. When the supervisor of the park was questioned she indicated "that the time on line was wrong and was never changed". I pointed to the sign directly behind her and she said "Oh, that wasn't changed either". There is a sign posted in the same area that says that if there are fewer than 10 guests enjoying the waterpark that they can close it up to two hours prior to the scheduled closing time, this was not the case. The free "continental breakfast" consisted of about 1/3 of the buffet warming table and included granola, quarter muffins, apples, oranges and some nasty looking pudding - if staying here, plan on taking something to eat for breakfast or going out.
We did attempt to speak to a supervisor on the morning of our checkout, they said that they were told that the waterpark closed at 8:30pm the night prior and that they would relay our concerns to upper management but basically brushed it off. (Was also told that they are no longer affiliated with Best Western)

If we simply wanted a hotel stay, we would not have chosen this hotel and only did so because of the added waterpark bonus which was also cut short.

For a resort that derives it's name from the clocktower situated outside the hotel, it should be a tell-tale sign when the clocks on the tower do not even properly function!

We went on a family outing about a month ago or so. When I booked about a month and a half before, I asked for 3 rooms next to each other and the girl told me they couldn't guarantee that unless we checked in early. While we didn't show up early, we still got the 3 rooms next to each other. The girl I booked with was very nice and when the day of our family getaway arrived, the girls at the front desk were very nice and attentive.

We were quickly checked in and got to our rooms. The first thing we noticed as we went into our rooms was that the room heater was off (a trend that continued throughout the stay). It was winter and freezing outside (I believe it was about 20 degrees outside before windchill) and while I can appreciate trying to save on heating costs, it really was a bit much we thought (we stayed 2 nights and when housekeeping cleaned the room during the day, again turned off the heat so when we got back to the room, we had to experience the cold after returning from the water park- it was frigid especially for the kids).

The rooms were so-so cleaned- one had a smoke smell even though it was a non-smoking room but luckily it was tolerable. The rooms were basic (I would've thought they'd have a fridge since it's a family resort). Housekeeping did not refill coffee when they cleaned the room and the toiletries but luckily when we called the front desk, they came to the rescue.

So let's talk about the Coco Key Water Park. While a decent size, they did not have enough chairs to put your stuff on. Their pizza was pretty good but they advertise a beer bucket deal but did not have buckets.... Luckily the first bartender we had was nice and kept the ones we weren't drinking in the cooler as a favor to us that Saturday- on Sunday, our bartender was not as accommodating... and she claimed that she could not change the channel to watch the Bears' game (the TV's were broken and channel could not be changed or turned off... we didn't really buy it... And if it was the case, you really should have that fixed ASAP). They also were out of towels about every 3-4 hours or so which was a big inconvenience. And they did not have enough water tubes for the people that were there (and it was not that full...)

So besides that, the biggest issue in the water park was how cold it was. The water temperature was fine, but the air temperature was frigid (not normal cold when you get out of the water, but kids turning blue cold). We went all there days (Fri, Sat, and Sun before we left) and the lack of heat continued in the water park. It was horrible but we tried to make the best of it. People complained we overheard and the young manager said they were aware of the issue but I think that's just the way it always issue to say on heat costs- my opinion. Kids were freezing, turning blue, and even adults actually so we went to the adult only "hot" tub. First thing we noticed is that there were more kids than adults in the "hot" tub. The young manager would come by periodically and say "no kids allowed" but left to avoid confrontation right away so it wasn't really enforced. The "hot" tub itself was luke warm at best (again, being stingy on the heat trend). The temperature in the hallways cold as well which made it a rough trek to get back to the room.

One more thing I noticed were the lack of restaurants on or by the property. We decided, what the heck, let's go as a family to the Tilted Kilt since the other little restaurant was closing (yeah, I know it's not a family restaurant but we had no other choice....). So we arrive there and they're having the boxing fight that Saturday night so they wanted $10 per person just to get in. I told the guy there- there's about 20 of us, we're going to each more than enough food to make it worth your while especially since it's so cold, the restaurant was mostly empty. That wasn't good enough so we had to drive to a Famous Dave's off the property about 2 miles away.

So overall, while this place has a lot of promise, it left us wanting more. It's a nice location since it's not too far from Chicago so we didn't have to go to Wisconsin Dells or even Key Lime Cove (though they're about the same distance away I realized later) and the price is so-so. If it just fixed these things, yes it's going to cost you a little more for the heat, but people will return. We want to return but are not sure because of these issues.... Who knows? We might give it a chance again in the future and hope this has been fixed.

Clean your hotel! For a hotel that promotes itself as a resort; this property lacks in cleanliness, ammenities, and has major maintance issues.

For a road warrior guest cleanliness may not be as big of issues. However, if this hotel expects to attract business travelers they must address these issues.

This was the third time I have stayed at this hotel and it was like the last two times. The room was nice, although it was starting to signs of wear - loose wallpaper in a couple of places, soiled carpet around the air conditioner/heater unit and a bit of wear on the easy chair and furniture - but all in all, a nice spacious room.

Pet Friendly; and that is it.

The advertisements for this sprawling complex promised shops and dining, but there was only one restaurant in partial service, and no shops. The hallways are endless, dank, and have plenty of stairs, which is a problem for those with mobility issues. Adding to the dungeon of the despair ambiance was the fact that aside from the unhelpful and unsympathetic staff, there didn't appear to be another soul infesting the place. Think of "The Shining" but with the nut job off on holiday at a far better place than this.

The room was dated but comfortable enough, so it makes for a good flophouse in the storm.
