“Absolutely Rubbish!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012 via mobile

Rooms freezing. Pool dirty. Air conditioning broken. Insects in the bed and under pillow. Insects in the bathroom. Dusty. Water park not open. I feel sorry for the people who are about to stay there. It's just rubbish.

We appreciate customer feedback as we endeavor to provide the best guest experience possible. The Best Western Clock Tower Resort takes bed bug prevention very seriously. Our housekeeping staff is fully trained to identify any signs of the pests and our record to date has been exemplary. As most know bedbugs are not products of hotel conditions, they are brought into any property by the guests, and so they can be an issue at any property if not dealt with properly. This guest did notify our staff of the issue and housekeeping staff immediately investigated. The bugs found were not bedbugs, just common garden bugs which likely got in from the courtyard through an open patio door.

Our maintenance team conducts routine maintenance and cleaning of the indoor pool, including the testing of the water daily for proper chlorine and PH levels. The pool is also maintained with an automated filtration and chemical supply system. They have been notified of this review to address any possible system malfunctions that would result in the pool not being up to the usual high standards.

CoCo Key Indoor Water Park is not closed. The water park is open Friday through Sunday and any holidays or school breaks when school is not in session. Water park hours are subject to change and are posted on the hotel and water park websites.

I enjoyed this hotel. It was Clean and the front desk Clerks were very pleasant. The rooms are situated a bit different and Il liked that. The location is great. Nears shopping and lots of dining options-this hotel is the home of Coco Keys Water Park as well, but I was there for business so I didn't Step foot in.

This hotel has so much to keep you occupied during your stay. The indoor water park and the Tilted Kilt restaurant. The restaurant has a pool table and a dart board, and they are even open past midnite! The food at the Tilted Kilt is AWESOME! Our jacuzzi room was BEAUTIFUL! It was big enough for the both of us to be comfortable in and has sides on it that you can put candles on or flower petals. There is also nice mood lighting above the tub. It was amazing. The water park had awesome water slides and was very warm, like a sauna, which is very good in the middle of November! The area was very nice and there is a lot going on very close to the hotel. The staff was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The bed was so comfortable, that we didn't want to even get out of the bed in the morning. The sheets and pillow cases were so soft and cozy. It was nicer than my bed at home! We really had a great time, and I think this will be our new spot. Thank you all for making sure we had a wonderful stay! We will be back!

Room Tip: Get a jacuzzi room. You won't be disappointed! :)

My boyfriend had reserved a room at this hotel for my birthday as a fun getaway, expecting a water park that was worthy of the Wisconsin Dells, as indicated on the Best Western Clocktower's website. Boy were we we in for an extremely disappointing time. Upon checking in, we noticed that our room had a musky odor, and was very outdated (not at all worthy of the $150+ per night we paid). The bathroom had peeling wallpaper and the TV was old. Clearly the hotel has not been maintained well, and is in dire need of a renovation...The pictures of the rooms on the hotel's website look NOTHING like the rooms that you get.

After arriving, we decided to grab lunch at the Tilted Kilt restaurant on site. There is some sort of bus station near the restaurant and the folks waiting for the bus made us feel very uncomfortable. This seems strange, to have a public bus stop included on a hotel property, and did not make us feel welcome at all.

The waterpark was very disappointing as well. It is not near the "60,000 feet" of fun advertised on the hotel's website. There are 3 lackluster slides, a lazy river, and a children's play area. I could see how it would be entertaining for young families, but does not provide a lot of entertainment for young adults, or even teenagers.

After seeing our poor room, having the bad lunch experience, and not enjoying the waterpark, and realizing we did not feel comfortable spending the night at this hotel, we decided to check out. After giving our experience to the hotel desk, we asked for a refund. We were given $45 back. I travel regularly for work, and have never been given so little customer service or refund when service has been this bad. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Rockford area. There is a Hilton Garden Inn down the road that seems much more accommodating. If it's a waterpark you're looking for in the Midwest drive a little further and visit the Wisconsin Dells. Stay there and save yourself some disappointment.

Room Tip: Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

We are truly sorry this guest’s stay was not up to expectations. We do feel that some misconceptions may have played a part in their experience and so to clarify a couple of items:

The bus stop mentioned here is actually a pick up and drop off point for a charter bus company which transports travelers going to and from Chicago airports and is a tremendous convenience amenity for many of our guests. For the most part they are business travelers, students or leisure travelers heading to or coming from O’hare or Midway airports. The area designated is not near the water park, hotel entrance or guest rooms and it is not a local public transit system stop.

Currently the resort is undergoing a renovation project to update and repair some of the minor issues in the guest rooms such as the peeling wall paper mentioned. Readers can be assured that the photos of the guestrooms on the Clock Tower website we recently taken and accurately reflect the guestrooms you will find at the Clock Tower. New flat screen TVs were added to all guestrooms last year so we are confused about the comment of the TV being old.

CoCo Key is indeed 60000 square feet, with three four-story slides, Coconut Gove adventure river, Parrots Perch Play Island with more slides and a giant dump bucket, kiddie pool, hot tubs, activity pool with basketball hoops, plus there is a huge video game arcade with redemption prizes, private cabanas, birthday party rooms and much more. While not as large as some of the attractions found at the Dells, we believe CoCo Key is a great adventure for kids of all ages and a great value for families.

We are grateful for this feedback and will share this review with the entire staff to continue to improve our service and the overall experience of our guests. The Best Western Clock Tower offers more amenities and guest rooms than any other lodging choice in the region and we encourage travelers to visit our website or stop in for a tour any time to

I stayed here for a conference. It is a sprawling hotel. Bring your walking shoes. I rated this hotel only as average because nothing really popped out at me as being anything above average. It served its purpose for my stay. I would stay there again if I would get a reasonable rate. ***No breakfast provided***

Stayed one night as part of wedding party (wedding not at the site). Our room needed renovation - wall paper molded and peeling not only in the bathroom but also on the adjacent wall in sleeping area. Heating/cooling was noisy. Remote control for TV did not work.
When we came back to the hotel from the wedding we attended, something was going on in the ballroom (?) area adjacent to our rooms and there were people with open containers standing around the doorways, smoking. In the morning I notice several empty beer bottles and plastic cups in the parking lot.
Not at all impressed. After looking at my credit card bill I also noticed the hotel added an additional $1.50 charge for something after I signed for the bill and had left. There are many other hotels in the area, I would definitely check them out before staying here.

We were initially thrilled with our choice of venues for a small wedding reception there over Labor Day weekend. The FIggs room is beautiful with fountains and lots of windows! However, a very public balcony area allows anyone and everyone to view below where your guests are, and it was so open as to be very hot! We paid for rooms ahead of time, but there was a lot of mix-up when our guests arrived and were asked to pay for pre-paid rooms. bad form! The elevator was broken, and the outdated premises did not measure up to the prices paid for the rooms. The food provided thru catering for our buffet dinner was mediocre. I expected better for what we paid per person.
The communication from the events coordinator was timely and professional until we booked, then poor. She also did not communicate with our DJ or the set-up staff in order to have everything ready to go when we got there on the day of our event. We were handling things at the last minute which should have been handled prior and saved us some aggravation. The service staff at our event were superb!
