AWFUL. Air conditioning was not turned on so it was extremely hot when got to room. Took four hours to cool down to bearable. Phones not working properly. Accused of calling 911 and police arrived and said they were trying to reach us but never even used phones as we each had cell phones. Also, phone never rang. Even charged for 911 call which did not make. Also did not want to give back deposit for internet cord. Would rather stay in our car again than stay here again.

We knew that the Holiday Inn Express in Rochelle is now the US Express, although it still had the Holiday Inn Express sign out front. The room was okay, clean and typical HIE, and the evening staff was very nice. They made good recommendations for dining that evening. However, don't expect anything extra here since the changeover to US Express, such as writing paper or pens in the room or local newspapers. The breakfast was at best disappointing. Selection was very limited, and they ran out of supplies such as plates. Worst of all though, the dining area and especially the food area, was dirty. It looked like the hard boiled egg container had not been cleaned in a month. Yuck!! Other than the eggs, they had only bagels (no other bread choices at all), muffins, cinnamon rolls, margarine, jelly, cream cheese, 3 cold cereals -- two were kids' choices -- with at least one broken container, milk and oj and apple juice, and coffee and tea. That's it. Very minimal selection, and except for the eggs which I was afraid to eat considering the dirty container, there were NO protein or other non-sugary or wholesome selections. Next time, we'll drive on to the next bigger town.

I stayed at this location on New Years Eve 2004. It’s a newer hotel with a very friendly, accommodating staff. It's very close to route 39 and offers easy access on and off the highway. The rooms are clean, average size, and the décor is nice. The room had a coffee maker, chair and ottoman and a small work desk. The Breakfast is included in the price and offers more than you would expect for the price. It includes a selection of cold cereal, coffee (although the coffee was cold), bagels, juice, etc. The cinnamon rolls are warm and great!
The pool is small and was closed for construction during my visit . There is a fitness area with 4 or 5 pieces of very nice equipment. The lobby also offers a small business center with a printer and high speed internet. The Rochelle area is quiet , but there are restaurants available near the hotel. Looking at the other accommodations in the area, this hotel looked to to be the best choice. Overall- book your stay with confidence, you won’t be disappointed.
