Friends told us about this place and we had to check it out for ourselves. They raved about the food-especially the fish and chips. We stopped in after attending the Holiday Lights event at Brookfield Zoo. After an evening in the cold outdoors, we were ready for some hearty comfort food and a good beer.
Mollie's did not disappoint. We arrived to a very warm, cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Among the four of us, we had an appetizer of pretzel bites and ordered fish and chips, beef stew and chicken pot pie for our entrees. All dishes, including the appetizer, came in very large sized portions and all were delicious.
The fish in the fish and chips are huge; not typical of the little fish "planks" that are usually served at other restaurants. The Guinness Beef Stew was delicious and filling; one of the best beef stews I've had in a very long time. The chicken pot pie was made with a puff pastry crust that oozed over the side of the crock in which it was served.
They have a good selection of craft beers on draft and an extensive craft bottle selection. Even if you aren't planning to go to Riverside, It is definitely worth the trip for anyone living in the surrounding Chicagoland area to visit Mollie's.
