“We will not go back!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2012

I had stayed at this hotel 2 years ago, and found it to be clean and comfortable. But my recent stay was less than pleasant. The front desk person who greeted us was very nice, however, things went down hill fast. When we first entered the room, one of the pillow cases was dirty. When we took it off to take it to the front desk, we found the pillow underneath also dirty. The helpful woman at the front desk gave us a brand new pillow. The continental breakfast had very few choices, and those were questionable; and the juice dispenser was filthy. The windows and doors in the room were also filthy, I dont think the windows had been cleaned in years. Later in our stay we found a nasty stain on the side of the mattress, but worst of all, one of our CLEAN towels had a LARGE black grease stain on it. The rooms are still furnished nicely, but the upkeep and cleaning has gone down hill considerably. Its too bad, as while this was always a modest motel, it was the best in Rantoul. We will stay in Champaign from now on. If the local government has any influence over the hotel industry, they would do well to exercise it. These places are definately not attracting business to the town.

If you want a clean, simple hotel at a reasonable rate, this is the place for you! It is just 20 min. from U of I & does not require 2-night stay on Mom's or Dad's weekends! Beds had softest sheets & were very comfortable. Each room had refridge & microwave & other necessities. Cordial staff! We will definitely be returning!

Nice rooms, nice service, pleasant office staff and cleaning crew. Beds were comfortable, good supply of coffee, newspapers. The room was quiet, outdoor area was very clean. Guest washer was broken, but we could use the commercial set. All in all, so glad we chose this place for our trip.

Room Tip: Call direct and speak with the manager. If an extended stay, ask for their rate.

Stayed at this motel last week for one night, and overall I thought the room was more than adequate. It was clean -- in fact, the bathroom and the tile floors almost looked new -- and everything functioned well. The water pressure in the shower was great, and the a/c pumped out really cold air, so there are no complaints there. The carpet was in good shape, with no stains, holes, matted-down areas, etc. I will say the sheets and comforters have certainly had better days, and there is an overall "dated" quality about the rooms (wallpaper borders, generic motel furniture and lamp fixtures), but otherwise this motel sufficed well. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Last year at this time I wrote a review that said this was the best place to stay in Rantoul. It's really too bad that Best Western would allow this hotel to go downhill and become substandard for their chain. Since July 2010 there appears to have been no upkeep or updates by management at this location. Towels were ripped and threadbear, the sheets were stained with what looked like blood (we promptly removed them and got new ones from the front desk that we had to put on ourselves), the doors were filthy and desperately needed painting, the hot tub was cold, the pool was filthy, the continental breakfast was a joke, and the front desk clerk (Terri) was about as friendly as a stone statue. She never smiled, said thank you, or made us feel welcome at any time during our four day stay. To top it off, housekeeping opened the door to our room without knocking at 8:15 in the morning only to find me standing there in a towel, having just gotten out of the shower. We won't be back and will book a hotel in nearby Urbana instead. It may be a bit of a drive, but for what this hotel charges per night when events are going on in the area, I expect much better.

Room Tip: Go to a nearby city to book a room.

This hotel cost $20 less per night than the surrounding Best Western hotels, so we thought we'd give it a shot and save some money. It was not a great decision. Our room was basically clean, but either there had been a power outage, or someone had run up to plug things in without setting the clock, etc. The dead bugs on the a/c unit and windowsill were disgusting. The room was very small, and the bathroom area for toilet and tub was so small you could barely turn around. Extremely thin towels completed that disappointment. Breakfast barely met Best Western standards, with some pre-made pancakes sitting in a glass container being the least appetizing offer. In order to put some milk on my daughter's cereal, I was rummaging around in the refrigerator for milk. However, we apparently had it lucky, as I overheard another guest complaining at the front desk about the fact that her room hadn't even been cleaned before they were given the room key and told it was 'ready', and that it had been hard for them to sleep due to a toilet that ran all night. All in all, not up to Best Western standards that we've experienced in the past.

I had to spend soem time in Champaign but every hotel was sold out. I had to drive out to this location to get a hotel. The bed was lumpy and the pillows were flat. The room wasn't filthy but I don't know if I would call it clean either. It worked in a pinch, but I don't know if I would look forward to staying here again. But what do you expect from a cheap roadside motel?
