“Our favourite spot!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2014

We heard about this restaurant from some friends we met on the beach, so tried it one day and were thrilled to find they served fish cakes ( which we love on all the Islands ). I loved their Roti, also. Very filling and reasonably priced. They also served a decadent banoffee pie, banana and toffee!! The staff are wonderful and we could tell right away the owner had a fantastic repore with her workers! We spent several hours there, reading, listening to the local banter, and savouring the delicious food. They have a room full of books in several languages where anyone can come and exchange a book. Nice clean washrooms, too. From where we were staying at CoCo Palm, we took a bus to Gros Islet, walked along the beach, past Sandals, and to the Pigeon Island Park, paid the $6:00 fee and toured the park before eating at the restaurant. It's free after 5, just take a taxi back.

“Value and charm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2014 via mobile

This relaxed restaurant is an old favourite. It is situated on Pigeon Island, now joined to the mainland by a causeway. Entrance to the island involves buying a ticket costing 16 EC dollars which gives access to gardens, beaches and an opportunity to walk to the top and to enjoy views over the islands of St Lucia and the distant Martinique.
Jambe de Bois is a 5 minute walk from the entrance. It is a popular spot with a wide variety of visitors and locals and has a genuine feel of years gone by. Tables and chairs outside on the terrace are built from battered and sun-bleached wood rescued from the sea and views towards Rodney Bay and the boating activity in the bay are colourful and enchanting.
Past experience has shown that service can be relaxed, even slow, so it is a good idea to arrive early for lunch. This can be even more critical when cruise ships are in Rodney Bay or the larger ones in Castries. Being such a typical and charming venue has a magnetic charm to which cruisers are attracted.
A couple of cocktails, a beer, a shared battered calamari starter, a local dorado fish salad, a substantial fish lasagne and two coffees came to $47 plus tip and was excellent and fresh throughout. Service was informal and friendly, though some US citizens near us seemed unhappy with the slow pace of island life and were noticeably itchy.
All in all we were pleased that little changes at Jambe de Bois and we had another great experience there.

“Great Food, Great Price, and Great Views after a day at Pigeon Island”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2014

Open late most evenings, we enjoyed dinner here after taking in the beach and hiking on Pigeon Island. Food was really affordable and very tasty. The views were wonderful and the service was very nice.

“great afternoon at the park”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2014

my wife and I ate here yesterday after spending the morning on the beach located nearby
the place was busy as there was a small cruise ship in the harbour
this did not seem to hamper the efforts of the staff they were all very professional even with some comments I overheard from some guests that stated the service sucked
(cruise ship people that just want to be pampered)
we had a very good lunch for a good price
we had grilled squid and curried fish in a roti
both were very well prepared
the restaurant is right on the beach and has a great view of the bay
overall a great location with good food for a good price
would recommend this place for a nice lunch served by some friendly st lucians :):)

“delicious food with a great view!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2014

We had one of the best meals (of many!) in St. Lucia at Jambe De Bois. We went for lunch and then hiked around Pigeon Island. Not only was the food great but there's a beautiful view of boats coming in off of their dock. Their lattes and cappuccinos looked great, though we didn't try them. We will be back for sure!!
