Our experience at the Embassy Suites in Peoria was wonderful. The hotel just opened this past January and you can easily tell this by how modern and up to date the hotel is. From the beautiful atrium lobby to the hotel furnishings.
I cashed in miles and stayed at one of the suites, and the suite was the largest room that my husband and I have ever stayed at. We didn't request it, but we were given a corner executive suite and it was absolutely beautiful and very large. All of the rooms are suites, but this suite was larger and even more luxurious. It had panoramic views of the river that stretched from our bedroom to the living room. Of course - it being March, it wasn't the most beautiful, but I'm sure that when the season warms up it will be.
The suite had a fridge/microwave, as well as a flat screen TV in the bedroom and living room, and the furnishings all seemed very modern. The suite was also very clean. The bathroom was very large, and yes, we had the executive suite, but I still believe the regular suites would still be nice and large.
There is a manager's reception nightly - but we didn't partake it in the one night we were there. There is a free breakfast - cooked to order in the morning and it was great. They make fresh omelettes and waffles/pancakes for you. I had the special omelette of the day - tomato and basil with asiago cheese and it was great. They had several other items on the buffet, too - from potatoes, scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage to fresh fruit and cereals.
The hotel also had a pool/hot tub and an exercise room. We didn't use either, but both looked very nice. They also had a business center with free internet access (two PCs). It was nice not to be charged to do a quick check of our email. A simple thing - but still a nice feature when a hotel doesn't nickel and dime you for every little perk.
The hotel itself was right off the highway and very close to the Riverfront Walk/Center. It was a quick drive to the walk/restaurants. It would have been wonderful had there been a boat/launch to go from the Riverwalk straight to the hotel, but that's a bit too much to ask for, I think!
Overall - my husband and I had a great time the one night we were there. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. They were very welcoming from the front desk (and the free fresh fruit in the front), to the hotel room, to the accomodations. This was our first trip to Peoria, but we would stay at this hotel the next time we are in the area!
