“Nice Little Zoo”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

My first visit to the zoo. Very hot day but worth the trip. The variety of animals is amazing for a small zoo. Was lucky enough to have a chance to see both the male lion and the tiger up close as well as the giraffe. The lion gave a small roar and pawed at the glass. What a display! The tiger was moving around to find the best breeze. Enjoyed the "Walkabout" area. The people are confined to the path, the animals are free roaming. All the zoo staff were both knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely worth a trip, especially if you have children. Check the "keeper chat" schedule before going. You may want to plan the visit around a certain animal discussion. Not really big enough to spend the entire day so don't miss the chat you'd be most interested in.

“Pretty Impressive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

Went to the zoo looking for something to do with my baby while we were in town. Was very happy with the price- only $9 for an adult and pleasantly surprised by the number and types of animals. Loved walking through the Australian Walkabout area, where the wallaby and kangaroo hoped about freely. We really enjoyed that even the lions, tigers and elephants were awake and active. Overall a great experience.

“First visit to Peoria Zoo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2014

My husband and I visited the Peoria Zoo with our son and his wife, along with all 6 of our grandchildren. This was our first visit and we were impressed with the zoo, the way it was designed and the great assortment of animals. It has a new African section which we compared to Animal Kingdom at Disney World. Yes, it's a much smaller scale, but very nicely done. Our grandchildren enjoyed the zoo very much, which made the adventure worth it all.

“Bigger and Better!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2014

The new Peoria Zoo offers a bigger park and areas to go into. There's the Australia experience, African experience area with larger paths to explore. The Australia experience is where you are walking in a penned area and the animals are free. An Aviary area offers sticks coated with birdseed to feed exotic birds in a screen room for $1 each. It was great fun to feed the parakeets. There's pathways to see Zebra, giraffes, lions, and tigers. There is a feeding area for the giraffes but you have to be there at a certain time to let the zoo personal let you feed them from a high platform. The concessions are reasonable! It's much better than the last time, much bigger. It would pay for a family that would be going often to buy a pass.

“Fun Zoo”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2014

The zoo is small but features some animals that most small zoos that I have been to do not have. They had a seal, large porcupines, and different types of Lemurs. The African part of the zoo was very beautiful. They have a nice bridge built through the woods that will either take you in or out of what feels like an African Safari. The lions are caged in by thick pieces of glass offering an up close experience. The Australian experience is very similar to other zoos I've been to however they have emus that are in the same area who are caged in by bamboo but do get a little uncomfortably close to you! Which makes for a great experience.

The park the zoo is located in is very pretty! There is a pond and large park with equipment for kids of all ages!
