We stayed two nights at the Radisson as part of a group (Oct 19/20), who booked the room. Our group all had small kids, and we changed to this hotel because of an indoor pool the kids could play in. So far so good.

The exterior of the hotel is very charming. The lobby is pretty, and the desk staff is accommodating and friendly. When we got to our room, we were surprised at how small it was. There was enough room for two full (not queen as we thought we'd get) beds, a small window that opened (but had no screen), and a nice sized desk and armoire with TV and drawers. The desk had a port for an internet cable, but no cable. The front desk provided a cable to me, but only to find out the Internet connection did not work. I understand there's wireless connectivity in the lobby and some rooms, but I did not attempt to use those alternatives. Typical hotel room. The bathroom, however, was very small. I could barely walk in to close the door to use the WC. The tub floor had anti-skid dots that were stained black. We put a towel on the tub floor before showering. My parents had the adjoining connecting room, and they had bugs in their bathroom.

Maid service was friendly, but forgot to replenish our towels (we were 2 adults/2 kids), but a call to the front desk got towels sent up quickly. Toilet backed up easily too.

Outside of the hotel, the street that dead ends at the property (Moss) had some of the nicest homes and property I've seen in Central Illinois. That was a sight to see.

I cannot recommend this hotel, and I'm surprised that it's a Radisson. As others have commented, I'd have expected more from that brand. Also I learned it was a Jumer's. I am familiar with the Urbana Jumers from 20 years ago, and it was a great hotel. Sad to say this does not meet our expectations.

Should we return to Peoria, I'll look for another alternative.

“Well worth what we paid”

I guess the cheaper rooms are the way to go here. We exhibited at the art fair on the riverfront, but decided to stay at the Radisson for the lower rate and to be away from the downtown. What a surprise to find a beautiful lobby filled with unusual furniture to match the castle look of the outside of the hotel!

We were quite happy with our $89/night room, #225. It was big enough for two people, the high-speed Internet worked great each time we used it, and the showerhead in our bathroom rotated, so I could have bullet-like pressure, while my friend got the soft, steady spray she prefers.

We had no bugs, no dust, no dirty glasses. The stained-glass windows actually opened, so you could get fresh air from outside. Plenty of storage space, even in the bathroom, where they thoughtfully put a shelf UNDER the vanity counter, so we could both have all our toiletries within reach.

The staff was very friendly all the way through our stay. The restaurant was above the average hotel fare, and the portions were huge. We did very well at the sale, too. I have no complaints about our visit to Peoria. I hope we get back in next year!

“Never Again”

Never again will we stay at this hotel. The outside of the building is quite nice. Once you enter your room it's not nice at all. We had flies, spiders, and gnats in our room. The rooms were dirty, the shower was a drip, the toilet didn't work properly, there were horrible stains on the bedding and the only ice machine that we could find that worked was on 4th floor.
I can't believe the health dept. allows this hotel to remain open for business. We should have gone across the bridge and stayed at Stoney Creek where friends were and the rate was $30 cheaper than the dirty Radisson.

“Don't believe their hype about providing wireless Internet access”

Radisson Hotel Peoria

Jul 24, 2007

I selected this hotel specifically because its web site said it provided high-speed wireless Internet access in the rooms. When I checked in, I told the front desk clerk I needed a room with high-speed wireless Internet access, and the clerk confirmed the room provided it. When I got into the room, there was no wireless Internet access. I called the front desk, and the clerk said a technician would be right up to look into the problem. Some time later, after no technician arrived, I went down to the front desk to complain in person and to request a different room that did provide wireless Internet access. The clerk said there was nothing that could be done to provide access. I demanded the clerk reverse the charges on my credit card and I found a different hotel.

“Just sadly bad”

Radisson Hotel Peoria

The room I stayed for a couple of days was just bad. And what's sad about that is that the area and the building itself is very nice. So, not sure why management can't renovate their rooms. And I was staying in one of the "better" rooms, for $179 I think

There's a long list of problems. I'll name just a couple:
1. Water in the shower was barely dripping
2. Out of four glasses in the room 3 were dirty and 1 was all in fingerprints but at least no mud
3. Only one pillow. was also pretty old
4. Interior is pathetic (reminded me of mid-range hotels in Russia with old 1980's furniture) with some stains on the couch
5. The floor bad-bad-bad. Cheap (and old!) motel-type floor carpeting.
