“You will not want to stay too long”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2013 via mobile

The beer is in very good condition unusually for a pub the wine is acceptable and at the correct temperature. Also a good choice of both. Now for the however, most of the seating available is button stools which are frankly bloody uncomfortable after approx 1/2 an hour. The Thai food is also acceptable but because of the seating arrangements makes the whole experience rather a chore. There are plenty of tables but stools at tables not for us. The toilets are cramped and could be fresher but that could be said for some of the locals! Another big downer is the music. It's to loud totally unrecognisable and tuneless. Nonetheless the beer is good. One other point is the fact that Lindfield for reasons best known to the geriatric village council does not have an ATM except for one in the Red Lion opposite which is not free to use. So come prepared as some of the local shops will only take cash.

“Drinks and Atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2013

The stand up has recently turned a little more 'trendy'. as such the drinks are expensive but they serve a great range of beers and lagers, actually a great range of most drinks. I always enjoy my visits. Tehy serve Thai food, we have had this once and it was great and seems to be a hit whenever i visit.

“Brilliant village pub”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2013

The stand up inn is a little gem of a pub. The beers on offer are great and they change them regularly. The food is Thai and this is also very good. The curries tend to be nicer (in my opinion) than the other dishes but even so, all are great. One thing that they do need to be cautious of though is the prices that they charge as they seem to be higher than most other venues around the area.

“Great pub but average food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

This has always been a popular pub with a great selection of beverages, especially the Cornish Orchards cider.
We booked for a meal on a Friday night. The pub was very busy, as was the eating area.
As a table of five we all had the duck starter which I found nicely cooked but not particularly hot and with a tiny amount of dipping sauces. We asked for some more sauce, which were bought to the table but we were not made aware of the extra charge for them which we only found out about when the bill was to be paid. Not impressed!
My main course was nicely cooked but was far to powerful in flavour and not well balanced as Thai food should be.
The Pad Thai tasted good but some of the top noodles were rather crispy, which I felt had probably been left under a heat lamp for too long. Again it wasn't very hot.
I am led to believe that there are new people cooking the food and as it was a very busy night I will give them the benefit of any doubt as previous meals here had been good.
The service was good and prompt.
As a pub it has a really good atmosphere, if a little noisy and can get very busy.

“Excellent beer, food and atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013

A great selection of beers, including several local breweries' draughts, was the first thing that appealed about this place.

The atmosphere was buzzing on our first visit, and was equally good on several returns since (albeit always on either a Friday or Saturday evening). It's busy but not oppressively so - just right in fact. And they staff up to meet the demand, so you never have to wait long to be served - the staff are observant, efficient and professional.

The food is GREAT. Excellent, tasty Thai food. We've now tried a few of the dishes and never been disappointed.

Highly recommended.
