“A true Paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2012

Nested in the dunes near by the Indian ocean, we had the chance to stayed for a couple of days in this unique place.
Fantastic views from the main deck , all day long watching the whales playing in the ocean.
Great food (an "exotic french cuisine" directed by Alexandra), bird watching organized by Thomas
A true paradise for travelers. A 5 stars place not to be missed.

Congratulations!
A spectacular place to visit for sure.
The combination between the sea, forest, accommodation, food and service presented by the whole team could not be better. The food served is fantastic. The room service is 5 stars and the staff always alert to the smallest detail. It is impossible not to get back out there. As soon as we entered the car back to our home, we then willing to stay a little longer. You are to be congratulated.

430 km from Maputo is the most amazing place - Dunes de Dovela.I dont really know where to start to describe the experience that you will share when you book a stay at this lodge.
Alex and Thomas are amazing hosts, the food is excellent and everyday the menu is meticulously designed by Alex to ensure that all guests are catered for. The produce is fresh and local and beautifully prepared.
The location is stunning - our bungalow overlooked the sand dunes and the Indian Ocean where we were able to watch the humpback whales during the breeding season. This was only bettered by boat trip with a whale specailist to watch and observe the behaviuor of these creatures close up....and we did get close. Late in the evening we were invited to listen to a presenation about the ACCM and the work they are doing to preserve the coastal wildlife in this region.
There is a guide on site who will happily guide you around the walking trails to see the plentiful bird and plantlife in this protected area, but you can follow the trails on your own.
The accomodation itself was of a very high standard, and very comfortable, You also have the option of taking your meals in the restaurant or on your own balcony.
As a surprise for my birthday, I received not only a beautiful vase of local flowers, but was able to choose my home made birthday cake...and the low fat chocloate pudding was amazing!
An amazing weekend!

Room Tip: Bungalows for that bit more luxury, but the shared facilities for the tents were the best I have eve...

beautyful place, a real paradise, in the middle of a natural reserve. owners and local staff are very friendly and professional. accommodation is just in perfect harmony with the place. I stayed in a tent and everything was very good: there is a real and very comfortable bad in the tents with materas, sheets, pillow, and a woden platform outside the tent creates a sort of balcony towards the sandy dunes. included in the price there are all possible activities , I did a 4 hour bird watching walk in the tropical forest; paths in the tropical forest are well indicated and it is impossible to get lost; the guide was local and he shared his knowledge; he took care of binocolus for bird watching and water to drink along the way. we arrived to a beautiful lake where Hippo lives. every single detail was very much taken care of. excellent value for money!

Room Tip: The top of the structure is the OPENAIR SHOWER and TOILETS for guests staying in tents, with a beaut...

After a adventurous drive of 12 km (4x4 needed!) you will reach the beautifull lodge in the middle of the dunes. Very friendly staff is there to meet you. The food is great. Wonderfull to swim in the high waves, snorkel in the lagune, wander through the forest. Lots of birds, butterflies, monkeys, flowers and kliometers of private dunes and beach. We were there with a family of 9. Grandma in a cabin felt like a queen. We slept in tents with luxurious beds. Showering with the most fantastic view. Highly recommended for families, couples, honeymoon...

Marvellous place! You can choose between kayaking into the lake, discovering local villages and their traditional culture, diving with whale sharks and manta rays in Zavora (20 minutes from Dovela) or walking on white sand hills at sunset.
The friendly and welcoming French owners offer delicious dishes of French cuisine revisited in a tropical way (that it means crabs, lobsters, etc.).
Price are a little high (look at the pormotions all year around) but you can be sure you won't be disappointed!
Definitely, the place to be when you want to spend some days in a peaceful site and dive along the coast of Inhambane, far away from the Tofu chaos.

We spent a great journey their right in the middle of the forest, looking at the wales "splashing" and hiking around between sand desert and clear blue water. During our travel in Mozambique, my boyfriend and I were looking for a different place far from stress but close to Mozambican people and nature. Hopefully we find this eco-lodge and we really appreciate the way it is run.
We choosed the budget option and we stayed in a big tent on a wooden plateform overhanging the canopy and the sea.
My favorite : the outdoor showers and toilets !
