Stayed 5/17/13 with my husband after a stressful week. Was supposed to be a nice evening to get away from the stress. We stayed previously last September and never had any cleanliness issues (just baby ants!). We ended up in the same room ironically - room 128. The carpeting by the top of the bed had pubic hair an crumbs. Towels had long black hairs folded inside of them. Drain to tub was very slow. Looked down drain, at least 5 inches of hair!! Along the baseboards of entire room was filthy. Looked like it hadn't been clean properly in months. Old rose petals from a previous guest and dirt, dead bugs. Here's the kicker though: hopped into whirlpool after the shower, started filling tub, went to turn on the jets and was blown away by the smell. Smelled like rotten eggs and sewage!! It was so awful I immediately stood up and had to reshower to get the smell off my skin! Not very romantic. Ruined the whole night. Front desk asked if I called to let then know. I did not, due to the fact it was 2am by the time we went to use hot tub. Who wants to move rooms at that point? I have recommended Essence Suites to people in the past, but will definitely not stay again. A clean room should be of the utmost importance! We will stick with the Sybaris which is spotless, and let our membership with ES lapse. On a positive note, front desk staff were very friendly.

We are very apologetic for the issues you came across. We encourage guest to contact us the instant they feel there may be an issue with any portion of their stay. The E.S. staff works hard to provide a great romantic getaway, however it is difficult to rectify such problems, when we are never told about them. If the room was unclean we would have instantly given you another room. If check in at 4pm and your saying you don't want to contact us at 2am, 10 hrs has passed and we have heard nothing.

We would have been more than happy to upgrade you to a another room, discuss a discounted option or something else that would have made what sounds like a bad experience turn into a good experience. We sincerely apologize and hope we can earn your return visit. E.S.
