I stayed at the Paddle Wheel Inn for a friend's wedding in July. It was definitely higher priced than I anticipated for an average hotel in the middle of nowhere ($107). Not to mention, in making a reservation I was informed any additional people over two would cost $15/person -- even for a room that sleeps four! I thought that was ridiculous, but it's easy to work around that. I paid for the room with my credit card, which came through on my August bill. The stay was absolutely nothing special, but convenient since the reception was there.
The worst of the experience came in September when I saw an additional $15 charge on my September credit card bill. I called to inquire and was informed that five towels/wash cloths were stained and their policy is to charge $3 per stained item. All we did was take showers - I did not notice stains and even if there were...it's a hotel for goodness sakes! They told me one stain was makeup -- um, that doesn't stain towels if you wash them! And they also said a towel was stained with coffee -- no one in our room drank coffee during our stay!!
I know it's not a big charge, but I think they try to nickel and dime their guests. Seems like a scam to me, so beware!!
