Our group of 11 stayed for two to six days depending on the group. Several enjoyed their breakfasts and they did look like large servings. I can only comment on our family dinner with 7 of us as it was the only meal I ate there.
The two specials were promoted and two in our group ordered the seafood one (grilled pollack), four the veal special and one ordered a steak. The soups ahead of the meal were tasty but the meals themselves were not very good and certainly not good value.
One of the two seafood specials was placed before our daughter. The waiter picked up the other 'pollack' dish and then put it back on the serving tray. He then looked at his list from his pocket, told his helper he had forgotten my husband's steak and asked the helper to put it in as a rush order, and the server then went about looking busy, clearing away various items, returning from the kitchen, at which point he then placed the now cold fish dish before my father. No explanation was given but it was obvious this dish was not the pollack as our daughter's was right beside his and was very different. My father's looked more like cod, a much less expensive item on the menu and yet at the end we were charged $25 for the more expensive special intead of something like $18 for cod.
As well, the waiter was not honest that he had forgotten to place the steak order (as he had stated to his helper at my end of the table) and instead came back several minutes later to tell my husband the dish had been dropped and he had requested another steak be prepared so he would have a fresh meal. The steak came with fries. My veal dish was mostly mounds of mashed potatoes with a bland sauce and a couple mushrooms or two half brussel sprouts on top of each mound. There were about 5 small scallop sized pieces of veal, which were indeed soft but again a bit bland.
As well, when we were placing our orders, we were told that there was a souffle special (pumpkin) that had to be ordered at that time as they took 40 minutes to prepare. The server suggested that if the newlyweds wanted a different flavour, another type could be prepared if ordered with the meals. Options were given, an almond one selected when my father requested a 3rd flavour, was told that there were only the two options. He then also requested one of the almond souffle's and I ordered a pumpkin souffle for sharing among a few of us. When the desserts came, there was only the one almond one for my daughter and son-in-law and the one pumpkin one for sharing. My father, who was paying for the entire dinner, was again left without what he had ordered and again no explanation or apology for the error.
The waiter was very helpful in letting my father know the bill did not yet include the gratuity but if it was me, given the errors, lack of honesty and full charge for the seafood special despite getting a different and less expensive option, I would have been hesitant to tip.
