“NOT just a place to sleep.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2013

Have full 'run' of everything except other guest's bedrooms! You will feel like this is your own home! Pinch myself, did I just get cast in DOWNTON ABBEY? This establishment is almost all "upstairs", from the decor and collections to the gracious hosts, Sam and Chuck. The only difference is the friendliness and cozy "downstairs" atmosphere that seems to coexist with the elegance on the first two floors. Speaking of "downstairs", there is a workout room and spa room available for guests who don't wish to break up their routine. After breakfast, take your coffee into the library and snuggle on the sofa...I hope to return and have a mini reunion with some friends. What a treat!

We stayed at Bishops Hall when our daughter ran the Chicago Marathon in October. It was abaolutely wonderful! I will never stay anywhere else in Chicago now. And they set the standard for B&Bs so very high! Chuck couldn't have been more gracious and we felt so at home! And they are experts on where to eat in Oak Park. Would love to have Sam and Chuck as good friends! Thanks, guys! Hope to see you again in 2013!

We have hosted a big family gathering and stayed at Bishops Hall several times. Each time we visit, we are amazed at how truly wonderful it is. The innkeepers are gracious, attentive and charming. The home is absolutely stunning - dramatic and yet also cozy and comfortable. From the elegant entrance to the beautiful salons, garden and tastefully appointed bedrooms, you will be delighted with your surroundings. There is plenty of space inside and out, and you are welcome to enjoy all of it. The inn is located in the heart of Oak Park, with easy access to all of the amenities of that lovely village. Whenever we return, we feel like we're coming to visit old friends. Can't wait to go back!

Truly relax and enjoy the surroundings, as the friendly hosts provide attention to every detail. I felt so comfortable with the owner/hosts, who really go out of there way to meet every need. This is a very special place, with detailed architecture, art and furnishings, located in a town filled with great architecture.

OMG, talk about attention to detail! This team has it all together. They have put together the most stunningly beautiful home for hosting a night ... or a wedding for 100 as we did.

The home is filling with antiques and they have refurbished it with an eye to authenticity. It was the closest to having a home wedding (without the mess!) we could have had.

Their garden? Romantic perfection. Groomed and green, even in the hottest weather of July.

The owners are funny, warm, smart and informed. Truly dedicated to having every detail right. The rooms are lovely. The bedroom has a huge high bed and a great shower with a rainfall sprinkler and a tiled bench ... as well as a dressing room, etc.

It could not have been nicer. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Bishop's Hall hosted my wedding in June of 2011 and I am still getting compliments. The owners Sam and Chuck welcomed us as if we were family and presented a 5 star, 5 diamond experience overall. Everything from the gorgeous rooms with a Four Seasons decor to service that welcomed everyone! Bishop's Hall has taken Bed and Breakfast experience to a such a higher level!!!!!

I have stayed as a guest in Sam's and Chuck's elegant home many times. The house is spectacular. Sam and Chuck spent years to creating one of the most attractive B & B's you can imagine. I've stayed in many hotels and Bed & Breakfasts because of the descriptions and photographs on websites. Rarely do the establishments meet the expectations I've developed by reviewing the website information. Bishops Hall is different. The photographs and descriptions on their website are wonderful, but what you'll find when you arrive will exceed your expectations. The house is located in one of the most beautiful parts of Oak Park and it is surrounded by large, very well-maintained homes. Sam and Chuck have other careers-the B&B is a labor of love. They also have a marvelous housekeeper who has worked for them for many years. She keeps the house spotlessly clean and Sam and Chuck keep the house in impeccable condition. A final thought--after my second stay, I realized that I had made new friends in Chicago. Sam and Chuck are bright, engaging and interesting people.
