Even before our arrival, Beth Harvey, the innkeeper, treated us with courtesy and made us feel welcome. She even went to the trouble of purchasing a little bedside stepstool for the rather "tall" bed in the Jimmy Stewart room. (This turned out to be the best bed I've ever slept in - with super-luxurious sheets.)
The breakfast alone is worth the price. Beth and her assistant made sure each guest got something new and exciting each day. We were greeted with breakfast fare such as we've never had before in our lives - unique and scrumptious. (And, don't even get me started on the Caribbean Caramel & Banana culinary sauce that we found ourselves looking forward to each morning to pour over our new treats. What an endorphin rush!)
The accommodations far surpassed our expectations, including a jacuzzi tub and fireplace in our suite. Beth was very helpful in going on the internet and printing off specific directions for getting us where we wanted to go by taking the Chicago "L." This was made even more convenient by the fact that the "L" station was only one block away.
An added bonus is the fact that the B&B is in Oak Park where there are so many Frank Lloyd Wright houses. So, if you are a fan like I am, this adds extra sightseeing potential.
There is nothing - absolutely nothing - that I could find to criticize about the Harvey (and you know how easy it is to find things to criticize about most lodging places). Everything was beyond excellent, and well worth the price. I highly recommend it!
