Dirty place falling apart. Staff is college kids who could care less about helping you. No parking. Have to parklone mile downtown snd walk back. There is a courtesy bus that takes you to the parking garage but it quits running at 4 pm. There are four parking spaces in front. Don't even try to use them if your handicap! They are reserved for the night staff. Rooms are NOT handicap accessible. Shower in the tub. Railings fall down once you put your hand on it. Rooms are dark and gloomy. Tv doesn't work. Don't try and open the windows cause you will fall out! Very low and no window guards. Extremely noisy. Waitstaff always yelling in the alley. Restaurant is ok but super expensive. Plan on spending 30 per person. Everything a la carte. Nothing to recommend about this place except tear it down snd start fresh. The city dump is slot nicer and so are the people!

Oak Park is the perfect location for a boutique hotel, and the Write Inn is perfectly situated. I stayed with my son in a very spacious and quiet room. The staff is rather distant, although not rude or unfriendly. This approach to service, which I have encountered more frequently in Europe than here in the US, may not be to everyone's liking.

The hotel is desperately in need of a renovation, which I gather is underway. We didn't try the restaurant, which looked very inviting but competes with a number of good restaurants in Oak Park village. Parking was in a secure structure about 3 blocks away, and was free (the hotel validates). There is no on-street parking.

I thought the hotel, which I found and booked online, was a good value for the location and the size and comfort of the room. Once the renovations are done I will find an excuse to return, and I will try them again anyway if I ever need a hotel between O'Hare and downtown.

We came to Chicago for a wedding and regret staying here. The entire place is in desperate need of repair ! Duct tape held together corners of wood in the lobby, the lobby and hall carpet was so dirty and just gross ! We were told we'd have a queen size bed in our suite, only to find a very uncomfortable full bed, if that. We needed two extra pillows, they had none, we needed some extra clean towels, nope none available. Our two children slept in the pull out murphy bed, not only was to uncomfortable but as I stated they didn't have any pillows ! The bathroom floor was dirty and shower had mildew stains ! We woke up and went downstairs about 7am to get some coffee. Restaurant was not open we were told because no one had shown up yet ! We had to walk into town half asleep and in a hurry to get ready for the wedding just to get some coffee ! It's in a good location, yet that is the only thing this place has going for it.

While not a dive, Write Inn is run down and has certainly seen better days. We stayed in one of the "charming" Pullman Murphy bed rooms. Tight squeeze with the bed down. Bathroom remodel was poorly done and looking dated. Shower itself was clean enough. Most of the dirt shows in central passageways. Probably the most uncomfortable mattress we've encountered in a hotel. But if you need to stay in Oak Park, you can't beat the location.
