Here Wright developed a new American architecture: the Prairie style. Filled with original furnishings, the Home and Studio demonstrates Wright's passion for controlling all aspects of his structures, including interior design and decorative arts. Enjoy guided tours of the museum complex and neighboring historic district seven days a week. Tour details are available on the Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust website. « less

“Walking Tour of Homes”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2008

My husband and I took a self-guided tour of the Wright homes in Oak Park. This is a good website to go to to get a map if you can't make the guided tours or get to the visitors center before they close http://www.oprf.com/flw/index-walk.html (we had quite a mad dash to get their by 5pm on a Sunday). The homes are beautiful and the neighborhood is also. It is quiet and safe to walk around, even after dark.

“A Must See for Anyone Interested in Architecture”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2007

Took an afternoon off from a conference in Chicago to see the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio and Unity Temple. When you consider it was all designed at the turn of the last century, everything becomes more impressive--the furniture, the little added features in the home to the art glass. It is a thoroughly modern design today. A must see--the Pairie School of Design at its best.

“Architectural historical tours: Frank Lloyd Wright Chicago”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2006

After enjoying the boat and bike tours in Chicago, I stopped in Oak Park on the way to Midway Airport to see the Frank Lloyde Wright studio and neigborhood walking tours. The neighborhood tour was self guided with an IPOD. It was great. This is worth the extra drive and make sure to give yourself at least 2 hours. I had one and a half hours and I was rushed.

“Any Frank Lloyd Wright fan will like his home/studio!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2004

A simple and yet not-so-simple Frank Lloyd Wright former home. What remains in my memory is the children's play room with high ceiling on the upper floor. You can almost see little kids playing in the corner as you stand in the room looking up at the high ceiling and beautiful side windows. Turn around and the guide tells you FLW placed a piano in the small stairwell so the music would flow throughout the house. A must see for any FLW fan who loves getting the chance to enter a home designed by him and see his style around every corner. Plus he actually lived in this one for the few years he was a family man, living with his kids. Has FLW gift shop. This home included in the Wright Plus tour each May in Oak Park, IL. See www.wrightplus.org for information.
