“Good price to quality ratio”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

Had some trouble with the wireless but was offered another room promptly. Rooms are fit-for-purpose nothing more nothing less, A large mall is just accros the street so you can walk there in just a few minutes. Staying downtown Chicago will cost you about 3 times as much in a lower quality Hotel.

Had a great experience with our stay. From the 1st moment we arrived, (KC at the front desk was awesome) to our room, to breakfast, to speedy checkout, entire stay was fabulous. Only complaint I have is it was somewhat confusing to get from parking garage, to the elevator, to room. We felt a little uncomfortable having to drag our bags from the parking garage through a big holiday party assembling in the banquet area. Parking is in the back of the hotel, so after you park, you have to bring your luggage, etc from parking garage elevator, through the banquet room area, through the main desk area to elevator near the front door. Had we been advised of this, we would have parked our car out front, took our luggage upstairs, then parked in the parking garage after taking our things to our room. There were some loud guests who were arguing in the hallway, as we were going into our room (naturally, they were in the room next to us), the woman continued yelling on and off for about a half hour or so at 11:30 p.m., but she quieted down just as we were about to call to complain. But other than those little hiccups, everything else was fabulous. We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Make sure you leave your car out front, check in, take luggage to room, then park. Otherwise it is...

Received the Doubletree Oak Brook through Priceline for a business trip, and was immediately impressed with the quality for a 3 1/2 star rating. The location is very convenient, right off the highway, and check-in was smooth and quick (and the warm cookie sure started things off on the right foot!) Free parking was provided, and although the hotel was pretty full with several events/parties/receptions, I never had trouble finding a spot during my 2-night stay. The parking lot was well-lit at night.

The room was nice with quality fixtures in the bathroom and good quality mattresses and pillows (especially compared to other 3 1/2 star rooms I've been in.) There was a flat-screen HDTV with an adequate selection of channels. The Wi-Fi is now free (the Priceline page said there was an additional fee -- no longer the case) but it's set up to require that you accept the terms and conditions every few hours (way too often, IMO -- this was one annoyance that kept me from giving it a 5/5 rating. Note to management -- how about at least 24 hours of internet before we have to accept terms again??)

The cleaning staff started pretty early both days (out by 8:00 or 8:30am cleaning rooms), so if you're there to relax or sleep in make sure you have your "do not disturb" card in the door.

I tried the breakfast buffet on Saturday morning. Cost was $16 + tax (the PDF menu on their website lists it at $15, so obviously a little out of date.) Nothing spectacular about it, but a solid offering -- everything was warm/fresh and the price included both coffee and juice. However, for $16, I'd like to see an omelet station or Belgian waffles (note to management - give the idea some thought...the value just wasn't quite there for me.) The service for the buffet was exceptional - my bar isn't normally very high for buffets, but I had 3 people frequently passing my table and checking on me, and never went more than a minute or two before someone was clearing a clean plate or refreshing my juice glass. They even left a pot of coffee on the table so I could refill/"warm up" as necessary. Very nice.

My check out was smooth and quick, and it was easy to hop right back on the highway (about a half mile from the hotel) and head home. All-in-all a very nice hotel, especially compared to other 3 1/2 star properties.

Room Tip: Watch a beautiful sunset or sunrise from rooms on the upper floors (floor 4 or higher) on the east o...

Thank you for taking the time to provide such a detailed review about your recent experience at the DoubleTree Chicago Oak Brook. While we’re very happy to learn that so many aspects of your stay were enjoyable, we’d like to clarify a few of your comments. Our internet service while offered complimentary in all public areas of the hotel and also to HHonors Gold & Diamond Members does require a small fee per day for in-room use. The very popular Wake Up Doubletree Breakfast Buffet, featured on our menu for $16, also includes cooked-to-order omelets and gives you a great start to your day. We’re thrilled that you were so satisfied with your accommodations, our convenient location and the service you received during check-in and check-out and we look forward to welcoming you back for another great stay very soon. Thank you for your review.

My wife and I stayed over after we attended a charity event in the hotel, and was very satisified with everything, and blown away by nothing. The staff was all very nice, and the room was clean and well-appointed. Quality pressure in teh shower and the breakfast buffet was good (but again, not great). Paying for wifi in the room is par for the course in "nicer" hotels such as this, so I guess I understand, but it's a bit of a drag to see a bunch of peole milling in the lobby simply for the free wifi.

This hotel is out from downtown and located in a totally business location Oak Brook,IL. Its a nice Porsche hotel but their food kind of sucks. The main advantage is you have the oak brook center mall rite across the road and have a lot of restaurants in there including cheescake, wildfire, CPK etc. There is no fridge or microwave in the room so it kind of sucks. If you have to heat something you need to go to laundry room.

Although the front desk personnel are polite, not much else about our stay was very positive. The room was clean, but musty smelling. The plumbing can be heard in the walls and the door offers no sound barrier. Trust me, I heard every child running down the hallway and every parent yelling at them to stop. The hotel offers no quiet spaces (especially the rooms). There was also some kind of dance competition in the hotel while we were there. Hundreds of tweens running around the whole place. The garage setup is sketch, as you have to walk through the 'banquet' area to get to your room. I am sure that the wedding party using that area appreciated us shlumping through to our room. There are hundreds of hotels in the area and most any would be a better option.

Room Tip: Try another hotel.

First of all the customer service is nothing short of excellent. The rooms are clean and big. The location is just outside of Chicago and near several restaurants and a mall.

The breakfast is good and costs $17. In my opinion this is not worth it. However, it is convenient.
