“Very impressed!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012

We travel often and are very picky. Had three one bedroom suites at this hotel. Very nice, clean & updated rooms. The highlight was the great breakfast options and the staff that took care of that area. When we have a chance to go back to Oakbrook we will stay in this hotel even though we belong to a different chain's loyalty group.

We enjoyed the hotel and had a good experience. Close to the mall and highways. Good breakfast, nice pool/hot tub. Our family liked the bigger room with the couch and kitchen! Easy drive, 5-10 minutes to train stop from hotel. Took METRA, Hinsdale stop, into Chicago. If you want to stay a little outside of Chicago, this is a great option.

This Residence Inn has recently completed a remodel - the rooms are clean, well appointed, and for the most part comfortable. I found the beds to be the biggest drawback. I don't believe this hotel offers a king bed option, and I found the beds to be a bit hard.

The rooms offer good work areas and comfortable sitting areas. The high speed Internet is actually high speed, one of the best wi-fi systems I have used at a hotel.

The staff is not overly friendly, but they are accommodating.

Common areas... large dining are for breakfast and evening appetizers when served. Multiple TV's all going at the same time (often times with audio) does not always make it the most welcoming place to spend time. And unlike many Residence Inn's the outdoor sitting area is very small patio area... many hotels under this brand offer larger outdoor seating areas, sometimes with a fireplace (even for this version of this property).

The breakfast area was often out of stock, especially on the weekend - so I would rate the food services pretty low... and when items were available they were often dry and cold.

This property is a bit tricky to locate due to the lack of signage and it being tucked back off the road with some businesses. When exiting off of the 88 toll road, head east on 22nd street and it will take you back under the interstate. Take the first right onto Jorie Blvd - keep making rights until you see the hotel.
I had a bit of a wait each time I was at the front desk, but nothing unreasonable. Just seemed like they were always busy or maybe a bit understaffed. My rewards status was recognized and I was offered my arrival "gift".
My room was on the top floor. The room was a one bedroom suite where the bedroom is separate from a living room area and kitchen. Everything was clean and in working order. As with many of the RI's with this layout, the bed is a bit small for two people (double, possibly a queen size) and has little walking room around the sides. The decor was actually a bit nicer than I've seen in most RI's lately, so perhaps there have been recent renovations. Very tastefully done.
There was a complimentary social hour in the dining area off the lobby in the weekday evenings, but I did not eat there. It did seem very popular and perhaps a bit crowded even. Convenient however if you didn't want to leave the property or perhaps did not have a vehicle. Same goes for breakfast. I opted for the Starbucks just down the street (definitely not walkable, but just west of Costco on 22nd). For dinner or shopping, there is a very nice open air mall across the street - probably too much to walk easily, but could be done if determined - there is just not a nice direct path. Lots of restaurants to choose from in the area - Cheesecake Factory, Maggiano's, etc.
Please note that the closest interstate is 88 and is a toll road. If you are heading back to O'Hare from here, you will need $1.50 in change to get onto the interstate and then $1.50 again to go from 294 to 190 and into the airport. Ipass is also available but may not be possible for those in a rental vehicle.
I did not use the exercise facility at this property as it was a short one-night stay.

Room Tip: Don't plan on looking for a clearly marked path, know where you are going when you get off the i...

I stayed in this hotel for a business trip . The rooms are very spacious full kitchen, living room, nice bedroom etc. The rooms and staff are great. They let me check in early with no problems at all which was a plus. There is construction going on across the parking lot but they did not start until 7:30am which was not a problem but just keep that in mind. The hotel itself is hard to find my taxi driver had problems because there is no signs visible from the road. The other issue it is across the highway from the mall and all the restaurants. So if you want to go to the mall/ or out to eat you will have to drive or take the shuttle.

I just stayed here two nights with my daughter while visiting Chicago. I agree with the positives that others have expressed-the studio room we shared was spacious, neat and pleasantly decorated, the staff friendly and the buffet decent. The staff servicing the buffet area were extremely accommodating and gracious.

The negatives-1)The signage. The hotel is not visible from the road and don't look for a standard Marriott Residence Inn sign to help you find the way, as there isn't any. There is a fairly understated sign with the names of several businesses on it, one of which is for the hotel. I couldn't find it and once past the area, unfortunately followed the advice of my GPS, which took me back on the tollway (at rush hour) to direct me back to the hotel. I really suggest you call the hotel prior to arriving so they can direct you. 2) The beds. The bed I slept in was definitely the firmest mattress I've ever encountered in a hotel. My daughter slept on the sofa sleeper and complained of waking up sore. I assumed it couldn't be that bad, but as we packed to leave, I laid down on the mattress. It was bad. The mattress was long past its life expectancy and needs to be replaced.

If this hotel invests in replacing its mattresses and does something to resolve the sign issue, I definitely give it five stars.

Room Tip: If you'd like to open the window, a room away from the expressway would be quieter,

This hotel exceeded our expections! The Oak Brook location was convenient enough to getting into downtown Chicago sightseeing. We also liked quick access to mall restaurants (across the street) and grocery stores (whole Foods & others nearby). The staff was super helpful. This whole place was updated and clean!! Our suite worked great for our family over several days. Breakfast was a big step above the usual freebie. Gorgeous lobby area with multiple seating areas and tvs. Wish all hotels were like this at this price!
