The immediate area is pretty devoid of selection for the full scale champagne brunch, and we didn't feel like making the trek into downtown Chicago on a Sunday morning for this. A quick web search came up with Allgauer's on the Riverfront with reasonably good reviews, which proved to be quite accurate. The layout is extensive with a terrific selection including sliced prime rib and the omelletes made to order station. Some nice surprises were the seafood selections including crab legs, jumbo shrimp and oysters on the half-shell. Add to that more salads, pastries and sweets than I can count along with a chocolate fountain with interesting dipping items, and you'll have your fill. The champagne flows freely and the service is good as would be expected for a Hilton. The atmosphere is just okay and as for the "on the waterfront" claim, that's a rather broad, over-extended description of the location and view out the window of the Des Plaines River (creek) running along the property. You won't need your camera. The brunch is moderately priced so but not more than comparably priced downtown brunches but be prepared. For selection and convenient Northside location, I give it high marks.
