I cannot even begin to say what an incredible experience we had at the Navy Lodge in Great Lakes! We were in suite 101. It was the most beautiful room we have ever stayed in. The decor was beautiful! The kitchen was well stocked with pots a pans, toaster, towels, plates and glasses as well as silverware. There is a stove as well as microwave above and a full refrigerator.
There is a dining area and living room area with a hid-a-bed and 2 nice chairs and flat screen tv. There is a short hall way leading to the bedroom with a full closet area and a full desk with chair. The beds were very comfortable. There is a second flat screen tv in that area. The bathroom has 2 sinks with lots of counter area. The shower/toilet room has a fan that completely sucks out the steam. The bath towels are large and thick and soft. They provided several soaps, shampoos and conditioners. They also provided a blow dryer, iron and full ironing board. We requested sheets for the hide-a-bed and they at our door with in a few minutes. The staff was so helpful. They had no problem in printing out our plane boarding passes for us. It's only 5 mins from base. Last of all, we left our Kindle Fire there and were so wonderful as to mail it back to us!

Room Tip: Our room 101 was very quiet. We didn't hear a thing and it is on the bottom floor.

I had to call to be sure that Navy Lodge accepts civilian guests, and yes, they do for families of boot camp graduates. And boy, am I happy they do!

My husband, young son and I recently stayed at the Navy Lodge for our older sons graduation from Navy boot camp and we were very impressed! The lodge itself is lovely and the staff is so knowledgeable about the process of graduation. They gave us a map and advice about parking on base. The rooms are extremely clean and comfortable. We traveled all the way from Texas and we had no idea what to expect, we were pleasantly surprised! On our VERY long drive to Chicago, we had to spend a night in another hotel and it was filthy. We were so happy to find super clean sheets, blankets and towels and the room itself was spotless! We could not have been happier.

The lodge is 5 or so minutes from Great Lakes and that made a huge difference since we only had a few hours to spend with our son before he had to get on a plane headed for A school. We didn't try the breakfast, but it seemed to be very popular. I did grab a cup of coffee from the carafe in the lobby and that was very good and much needed. The staff were exceptional! Everyone was very professional and helpful, everyone said hello and had a smile for us :) Downstairs they have a vending area with sodas, ice cream and all kinds of sandwiches, Ramen and sweets. It was very handy late at night.

I would highly recommend anyone that plans to attend a family members PIR stay at Navy Lodge!

Room Tip: The ground floor rooms seemed to get a lot of foot traffic. We stayed on the 2nd floor but we sure w...

We just got back from staying at the Navy Lodge. We were in Great Lakes for our son's graduation from boot camp. The rooms are fantastic and the entire staff made our stay very relaxing. They are very helpful and knowledgeable about what to expect for the family of a graduating Sailor. The staff always had a smile on their faces and was quick to say congratulations at every opportunity. Can't say enough good things about the Navy Lodge and their staff.

This was our second time staying here for PIR. They upgraded the lobby to include a sitting area with breakfast. The rooms are great and the beds are comfy. Friendly staff and guests are the best. You meet people from all over the world coming together to celebrate their loved ones graduation from Navy boot camp. Everyone is so proud and actually talk to each other like human beings. Great place to eat and the NEX is right down the street. A gas station and mini-mart is a block away. Do not pass up this facility for one of the hotels out in town.

We recently booked the room with a kitchen. We were so impressed with the lodge. The front desk people were so nice and the location is perfect. We stayed 3 nights while in town for my sons PIR (Navy graduation). I would highly recommend.

I have stayed at the Navy Lodge--Great Lakes, IL before so I returned--this time for 3 weeks--WOW--the whole staff made me feel like I was home every day! When I checked in, Silvava was on duty--she went way beyond the call of duty to make sure my suite was just as I had ask for---

If you are in the Great Lakes, IL area and qualified to stay in the Navy Lodge--you can look no further--stay here--you will not be sorry!

Room Tip: Any room/suite will be great!

The Navy Lodge is only a mile from the main gate to the base, located in a quiet residential neighborhood. While it is showing its age a little, it is very well maintained and spotlessly clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. My room was similar to one you would find in the budget hotels of the big chains. Comfortable beds, wifi, microwave, in-room coffee, newspapers, DVD players (with a big selection of movies avaiable, and breakfast in the morning. If you are eligible to stay here (TDY travelers, DoD civilians, retirees and reservists, it is a great place to stay. I give my unconditional highest recommendation.
