I decided to try this Exel Inn after reading some positive reviews on several internet sites. The staff was friendly and the room was clean. I settled in at about 3:45PM, worked on some emails, and then decided to take a nap prior to a dinner engagement. When I laid on the bed I discovered that it was extremely firm. After about half an hour I concluded that it was very unlikely that I would sleep well that night, which would affect my performance at business meetings early the next morning. So at about 5:45PM I gathered my things, went to the front desk, indicated that I would have to look for another motel, and asked for a partial refund. The clerk suggested that I try another room, which I declined because in most motels all the beds are the same, and also because I quickly needed to find another motel before my dinner engagement. The clerk said he didn't have the authority to issue a refund. When I called the manager a few days later he said that he didn't have the authority to issue a refund either. He contacted the Exel Inn Director of Operations in Madison, WI, who refused to issue a refund. So, buyer beware!! Don't settle into a room at the Exel Inn until you thoroughly check out everything in the room. There are no refunds.
