“Great Hotel in Chicago Suburb”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

We stayed in the Hotel Arista for five nights during Thanksgiving week 2012. The staff from the front desk to housekeeping to wait staff in the restaurant were all helpful and attentive. We were upgraded to a king corner room on the top floor due to our IPrefer membership so we had a lovely view and very nice amenities. Parking is free as is in-room internet service. We would certainly stay here again.

I reviewed this hotel before and gave it a favorable review. I am revising from favorable to less-than-favorable. When a hotel achieves high standards and then falls down on the job then it has to be noted. I have been staying here almost since this hotel opened. For a few years now I have been a big fan, but that has changed. The restaurant remains over-priced with mediocre food. During the winter months you are held hostage to eating there due to the weather, especially if you are without a car as I usually am. They stopped stocking the mini bar - apparently so you are forced to order room service, and worse- they keep the empty shelves and fridge in the room just as a reminder that you once had junk food and water in reach. The espresso machine that used to be in the lobby has been gone for months and all coffee service disappears sometime in the afternoon. Even the choice of movies is mediocre. Hotels in this area (Naperville, etc.) are limited, with the exception of the usual hotel chains typically found near business parks. In comparison to those choices, Hotel Arista definitely stands out, and for that I still recommend it, but I am no longer enthusiastic, just resigned. Scrimping on small details that used to really make a hotel stand out is more than disappointing.

Room Tip: Expect a well appointed boutique style hotel. Make a trip to the local market if you expect in room...

I want to begin by thanking you for your valuable feedback regarding our hotel, and our services. I sincerely apologize that our recent changes were not clearly communicated to you, as we have not simply discontinued stocking the mini bars. We have designed a customized Nosh Bar Menu, which allows us to personalize each guest’s stay by allowing them the choice to have the mini bar stocked with only the items that they would like. At the time of reservation, our guests can indicate the snacks and drinks that they would like to have placed in the room, and we will have those items already in the room upon the guest’s arrival. The customized Nosh Bar Menu can also be found on each guestroom TV on channel 56. Please feel free to let us know what type of snacks and/or drinks you prefer, and we will make sure that those are in your room moving forward. Regarding the restaurant, we are planning future changes that will include a menu with more moderately priced options. Also, please be sure to stop by Kafenio, which is another dining option right here on the CityGate campus. Kafenio offers reasonably priced breakfast and lunch options; with the option of dining in, or taking your meal to go. Just as a reminder, coffee is available in each guestroom at all times and can also be found in Sugartoad throughout the day (including espresso, cappuccino, etc.). Our goal is to make each of our guests’ stays effortless, and to exceed all of our guests’ expectations. I sincerely regret that we have not recently exceeded your expectations, but I can assure you that we will use your valuable feedback to improve our products and services in the future. Again, I greatly appreciate the feedback that you have taken the time to provide. All of us here at Hotel Arista deeply appreciate your loyalty, and hope that we will continue to have the opportunity to accommodate you in the future. Thank you.

Best,
Jeffrey Brown

On a businss trip I had a one night stay at this location. I was quite pleased with this hotel. It is clean with a somewhat modern design, with good service. The bar area is just off the lobby and very comfortable. The hotel is located nearby quite a few other restaurant choices within easy driving distance.

Glad you enjoyed your over night at Hotel Arista. Our staff provide a friendly and welcoming environment, making ever guest feel right at home. The hotel bar, Zorba, offers great drink selections while the restaurant, SugarToad, provides a delicious dining experience.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

We visited the Hotel Arista for pleasure and liked nearly everything about it. The rooms are very nice, similar to some of the better hotels we have visited. Great bathrooms, nice beds. TV worked great, but the bedside radio had trouble picking up local stations. Check-in/check-out was great and very friendly. Price makes this a superb value.

Only nitpick is the restaurant and food options. The room service dinner/24 hour options are a bit on the foo foo side, hard to find anything a little more basic. Without a minibar in the room, options for snacks are pretty limited at the front desk. We had breakfast at the restaurant and it wasn't very good. Service was slow and the server was difficult to understand. Eggs were overcooked and toast soggy.

Overall a very good experience and recommended.

Had a concert to attend this weekend in Aurora and decided to stay over at the Arista in Naperville. Simply a wonderful experience. Great staff...clean, modern, well-appointed rooms. Overall, very plush feeling. Spacious bathroom with tub and a step in shower. Took a very affordable upgrade to a corner suite and found a 3-room accommodation (living room, bedroom, bath). Wi-fi included in the price. Parking included in the price. Great restaurant down stairs (Sugar Toad). All in all, a 5 star experience out in Naperville. If you need a very affordable, VERY upscale place to stay in the western suburbs you must consider the Arista.

Room Tip: One of the primary uses of this hotel on the weekends is for weddings. If there is no wedding that w...

To save you all from having to read my review, I'll just summarize everything right now: If you're staying in Naperville and want a nice hotel, this IS the place to stay. Just go book your room now.

Still need convincing? OK then, read on!

Getting there: The hotel is located right off the highway so getting here and leaving was extremely quick and easy. I had to travel quite a bit within the area so easy in/out was extremely important.

Parking: Free and plentiful, right in front of the hotel.

Staff: One word: incredible. I was probably a lot younger than the typical person staying at this hotel and a number of the staff were enthusiastic local students (for the most part) so I got along really well with everyone. They treated me like a friend and wanted to know how my day was. It was nice to experience when I'm away from home so often.

Room: Wow! This is one modern hotel, even by my standards. Even the standard rooms are quite large with the most up-to-date amenities. Power in the right places, connections for the (large) LCD tv, free internet in the rooms (and throughout the hotel), and even a Wii if you get bored :D

Food: I had breakfast in my room one day. Service was right on time, prepared just as I had requested. I also had a couple of drinks and dinner one day at the SugarToad. Perhaps not inexpensive, but the quality was high, service was excellent and the experience was really nice given the hotel is somewhat isolated. The beer menu had a ton of microbrews on it, which I really appreciated and I find is extremely rare at most hotels these days.

My one and only complaint about the Arista is that the views have something left to be desired, but Naperville isn't exactly known for their rolling hills and beautiful vistas.

If you've seen my reviews in the past, you'll know I usually write a whole ton about the place I've been but honestly there isn't anything more I can say about this place. If you're doing business in the area, then this is THE place to stay without a doubt. Yes, there are lots of less expensive options in the area but if you value service and quality, it's a no brainer!

Room Tip: Higher up the better so you can at least see something other than the car park.

Stayed here on a business trip for a conference. The hotel rooms were great, staff was very helpful and friendly. Good location with many restaurants within a short drive. Nice feature that some other hotels have to turn on and off all the lights from a single button next to your bed......it is the little things. The meeting facility wasn't that great, ceilings not really. That high and lighting wasn't great. I would definitely stay here again but maybe not the best conference facility. If that is your plan make sure you check it closely first for your needs it could be just fine.

Thank you for your kind review. The details are what make our hotel – right down to ensuring that the lights can be turned off without having to get out of bed. Thank you for the suggestion on the lighting, with floor to ceiling windows, some of our smaller conference spaces need to have a staff member personally assess the lighting, and adjust accordingly - we will ensure that happens in the future. In our large banquet facility, lighting is a delicate balance to ensure visibility with any programming being featured. Our staff is here to serve its guests, so never hesitate to tell us how we can further accommodate you. I hope to see you back at the Hotel soon.
