I've been coming here a few times a year since the early days 25+ years ago. Sure, the decor is aging, but it has the classic feel of a community tradition. Most important, the service has improved measurably since our last visit, in 2011, and the food remains first class. On a Friday night back in February, the dining room was only moderately busy while the lounge was nearly full. Since we were there to eat dinner and not troll for single seniors, this was good. We ordered the Salmon and the Walleye from the specials menu. Both came with an appropriate sauce and vegetable sides. Choose the "sliced potato" option - it is simply great - far better than it sounds. The salad cart still roams the room, so you can have a no-lettuce salad if you wish (or must avoid lettuce as one of us must). Try the anchovy dressing for a special treat. Service was classic - the waiter and the busboys combine to keep things always perfect - water filled, plates cleared, etc. The host is still warm and efficient, as he always has been. Sure, its a bit old fashoned, but it has class - something you never can say about Joe's Crab Shack & the like.
