“Great food, okay service, dated decor. Hey, it's a truck stop.”
As truck stop restaurants go, this is the best I've been to. The restaurant is spacious with tables or booths. The decor is dated, wall paper from the eighties and dark green/teal booths and chairs. The items hanging on the walls are nostalgic but seem a bit like dust catchers. When you arrive, you will wait a few minutes to be noticed by a staff member. The hostess will act put off by your presence. When seated, a waitress will eventually arrive to take your orders. Waitresses are very friendly, just a bit hard to find. The food is where it's it. The chicken pot pie is delicious! Best Rubin sandwich around. Excellent specials. Great value for the money. Kids eat free in the summer. Salad bar offers fresh baked fruit breads and simple salad items. And if you can walk past the bakery display case without purchasing something, you have a lot more willpower than me. Best cakes, strawberry pillows, eclairs, macaroons, etc in the area. I recommend trying this restaurant for the food. Just try to ignore the dated decor and grouchy hostess. It's worth the money.
