My husband and I stayed in this hotel in June 2007 for his high school reunion. It was cheap and close to the airport, two things important to us. We were only staying one night before visiting his parents, so we just needed a clean room and A/C. We had a remodeled room, so the furnishings were nice. The sheers on the windows do not block out enough light, and the curtains cannot be closed since the rod they hang on is just long enough to accommodate their open width. We faced the McDonald's and it was very easy for people to see into our second floor room.

As other reviewers have stated the indoor pool was very busy. There was a waterfall grotto, complete with colored gel lights and a mini-golf course. Lots of softball teams and families here. Poolside rooms looked like fun places to hang out for kids.

The directions to our room started out with, "Make a left at the polar bear." I had to turn my head at this point just to make sure I heard the right thing, and sure enough, there was a large, stuffed, white polar bear staring down at us. Weird! We got lost on the way to our room since you have to go through a door to get to your hall, otherwise you end up near the meeting rooms.

Like I said, our room was decent, but needed some improved A/C and privacy. We kept the old (probably original) thermostat programmed at 50 degrees to keep the air running, but I'd be surprised if the temperature even reached 75.

At the reunion we discovered that two of my husband's classmates had been employed here in the past...boy, did we get an earful! Some good, some bad. But mostly it was entertaining to hear how this was the place to be in the 70s for the all-you-can eat catfish buffet.

Considering what a bargain we got on the room--buying with a non-cancellable 7 day advance deal for under $60 including all the taxes--we were quite happy with what we got here. We chose it for its proximity to the airport since we had an early flight the next day--it is less than a mile to the terminal and you can see the airport from the parking lot. The room was rather small--the king bed (which was very comfy) took up well over the majority of the floor space in the room, and the view is less than nothing special (it was a white brick wall three feet from the window). Having more than one wastebasket in the room would have been better, and there appeared to be cigarette burns in the door frame outside our room. However, the room seemed to be recently remodeled, everything in it was clean and in good condition, and the water pressure was good. The walls are pretty thin, however, and one can hear lots of conversations elsewhere even with the door closed.

This is perhaps the first place I have stayed which offered two swimming pools--the one closer to the front desk, which was a beehive of activity, and the lap pool in what appeared to be a newer wing of the hotel, which is the one we used. The pool was nice and warm and pleasant to use, though they did not provide towels there as they did at the other pool. A sauna is offered near the lap pool, but we weren't too impressed with it--there was junk scattered in it, it didn't heat up well, and was full of crude gas-station type graffiti.

Other features: the hotel offers free parking, and has some sort of park-and-fly option. There is also a restaurant in the building and many meeting rooms. The neighborhood is commercial and not very attractive, but it is handy to have a gas station next door, and McDonald's next to that. It is also a short drive to the SouthPark Mall. Inside the hotel there are two ping-pong tables, an undecorated mini-golf course and a video game room. I used the free wireless internet access and was very satisfied with it.

If you want to stay in this area and this hotel is full, there are a number of others nearby, including a Holiday Inn Express next door. If you can get a room here for what we paid, I think you'd be getting a pretty good deal.

This place is screaming for a remodel!. the rooms have been redone recently and are not to bad. (dont get a room facing the pool area if you want to sleep) The biggest problem is the the common areas. Everything is dark and smells like smoke.(smoking is allowed in the pool areas). This place could be awsome if it was redone. It was great for kids, tons of room to play, but like I said it was all from the 70's.

Oh how the mighty Holidome crumbles! This place really shows it's age. Lots of worn edges, wallpaper, rusty metal, worn out shower head....the list goes on and on. Noticed the roach motel in my room and the manager said "we don't have an infestation" (so, how did it get there?). Cleaning service did not remove breakfast service (manager said they should have). The list goes on and on. And bad coffee to boot!

Stayed at the hotel a few months before, and now everything was new! From the bottom to the top, they had new carpeting, furniture, beds, and even granite in the bathrooms. It was like staying in a Vegas like casino hotel in middle america.
