My husband and I stayed in this hotel in June 2007 for his high school reunion. It was cheap and close to the airport, two things important to us. We were only staying one night before visiting his parents, so we just needed a clean room and A/C. We had a remodeled room, so the furnishings were nice. The sheers on the windows do not block out enough light, and the curtains cannot be closed since the rod they hang on is just long enough to accommodate their open width. We faced the McDonald's and it was very easy for people to see into our second floor room.
As other reviewers have stated the indoor pool was very busy. There was a waterfall grotto, complete with colored gel lights and a mini-golf course. Lots of softball teams and families here. Poolside rooms looked like fun places to hang out for kids.
The directions to our room started out with, "Make a left at the polar bear." I had to turn my head at this point just to make sure I heard the right thing, and sure enough, there was a large, stuffed, white polar bear staring down at us. Weird! We got lost on the way to our room since you have to go through a door to get to your hall, otherwise you end up near the meeting rooms.
Like I said, our room was decent, but needed some improved A/C and privacy. We kept the old (probably original) thermostat programmed at 50 degrees to keep the air running, but I'd be surprised if the temperature even reached 75.
At the reunion we discovered that two of my husband's classmates had been employed here in the past...boy, did we get an earful! Some good, some bad. But mostly it was entertaining to hear how this was the place to be in the 70s for the all-you-can eat catfish buffet.
